I have a 350 in coupe, it will leak if left for a week or two
my gearbox man told me as I have a oil line to he cooler in the radiator,
when the extra oil flows back into box it overflows out of a valve top of box ??
have you heard this story, it is also hard to tell oil level in box with the extra line

Haha! The ratchet and sockets in that cheap tool set actually feel pretty good, the box/open wrenches are terrible. Really, REALLY short, sloppy fit. I've gotten my moneys worth from them though. I'm not too proud to admit I have a bunch of HF stuff. For the occasional mechanic/homeowner, they're OK. For a pro, not so much.

A timely topic. I too just bought the tool and will be tackling this issue on the Turbo 400 under my ‘55 Chevrolet.

It is your converters fault ! Not the seal ! When the converter leaks down it raises the fluid level in the pan above the shifter shaft seal , that’s why it takes 2 or3 days to leak !!!

Uh, no, it leaked ALL the time. Now, several days later, and having been driven, it hasn't leaked a drop. I'm not saying it may not have other issues, but that wasn't the cause of the leak. The old seal rubber was rock hard, the lip was smashed flat. Time for a new one. Happily for me, the shaft doesn't seem to be worn, or the new seal would leak as well.

On a turbo 350 it seems to me there are four places to leak. Shift seal, down shift cable, fill tube a the speedo cable. Last time my speedo cable leaked the trans guy told me to get a new bullet and gear. Have had no leaks. Now that it has been setting for weeks I’m betting the shift seal is leaking.

The transmissions in both my '46 pickup and '33 Willys are C6 Ford autos. If left undriven for several days the trans fluid in the torque converter will leak down and drain back into the pan and fill it up past the shift lever. With the level of fluid above the lever I now have positive head pressure pushing fluid out the shaft. Maybe something similar is happening on 350s? I noticed that if I drive the cars every couple of days I get no puddle. Otherwise its add at least a quart of ATF in the spring.

If Muncie's had a vented case it might help.
