Technical Welting on hood?

I'm finishing up fixing some problems and a repaint on my 40. Right now I'm in the process of aligning my front end and playing with some welting ideas to clean up the look.

I've done a little searching around and haven't found any answers to this question. Has anyone ever put fender welting onto a 40 hood or something similar?

I think that it'll look pretty good, but I would need to find a way to attach it. I was thinking that I could use the rubber hood bumpers to hold the bulk of it and maybe use some sort of adhesive between each bumper. This way the welting on the fenders and the grill would look like a constant bead while the hood is down, but would look cleaner than using a constant bead across the whole fender.

    Any ideas or opinions?

Great looking car! I've seen metal welting, not sure if it has fabric on the inside or metal, if it is metal it would be easier to attach. Bob

Form follows function. A nice gap, resting on the hood side rubbers, done. The welt means you need to make it touch fully, then what happens at the grille/cowl? Follow Henry's lead there, that's my opinion. And, the white looks, well, okay I guess, but take a page from the Lincoln Continental designers book. Do the welt in body color. Many high dollar cars from the classic era did that as well. Done right, very clean and a nice touch. Gold vinyl isn't impossible to find.

I would say do not use the welting there. The rubber bumpers work fine. BTW, I knew there was something familiar about your car....lol DSC_0201.JPG

Please don't, not a good look. I've seen the chrome style & it doesn't hit the mark IMHO insofar as aesthetics.
Car looks perfect & sits right as is.

Great looking coupe! I really like the color. I also vote to not use the welting along the hood. The rubber bumpers work and look fine on a 39-40. IMHO.....
