tried to change the front of my 51... little grill work. its different....johnny the last one is finished. going to do somthing with turn signals. not sure what yet...johnny
Looks like something you'd see in the little pages in the mid-late 50's from an amatuer builder, aside from the pinstriping and painted bumper & grill surround.
thanks for your opinions...its my first car and first attempet to do somthing to it other than paint. guess i went to far with trying to make it stand out more. thanks again...johnny
dude, painted bumpers and shit are so 80's, put the stock stuff back on it and stop trying so hard to make a cool car cooler!
First pic looks much better, I think. Second pic looks kinda like someone with a giant Bedazzler got ahold of your car instead of some old jeans... sorry.
I agree with the stock grille. However, your gumption and ballsiness to try something new is definitly comendable. Now just back up and start over.
I think if you can scrub the paint off the bumper and grill surround it could head in a better direction, providing the chrome is presentable. In looking at some old little books, I would say more is more. The kitchen knob treatment works when the grill is filled up and the knobs are all symmetrical. The point was to give the effect of floating round discs. You sink the piece the knobs mounted to, further behind the grill opening, and or black it out. I say just go further, take your time and think about the overall effect.
i don't usually offer my opinion unless asked, , but you asked,,,,,,,,, it looks too busy, too many different shapes floating in there, , i think if you paint the mesh gold, and put a bunch of the same type of chrome drawer pulls (either chrome ovals, chrome squares angled as diamond shapes, or any other shape),but you need a LOT of them to get the right look.....and when you lay them out, be sure thay are completely symmetrical. i understand where you are trying to go with your idea, it can work, just needs a little refinement
suggestion: cause something kept bugging me and now I see,,Try using smaller mess,,the holes are to big,,what your after may look better that way
You got the idea, just remember some times less is more, someone said smaller mesh, i'm gunna go with that also. But hey no one on here drives that car but you so.................whatever you think is the way it should be.
the grill amd bumper is super rusted and chrome is all but gone. was trying to clean up that. in my avitar i painted it using hammerd metal paint from krylon. but was getting flack about the fake chrome look. again thats for all your guys help. ill keep trying keep you posted..thanks again...johnny
Myself, I'd be out there every with an sos or scotchbrite pad scrubbing the rust off the trim and bumper before I painted it. I just flat don't like the the painted bumper or trim look on a car that is supposed to have chrome. I'll have to agree that the grill looks more than a little busy in the last photo. But few get it right the first time they try something. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
