Thanks, that's a very good idea. I'm sure the ride will be emotional no matter where we go.

Well, I gutted the interior today. If rat/mouse shit was gold, I'd be a millionaire! Found some neat odds and ends, Grandpa was a highway patrol officer and I found (What was left) of an old CA vehicle code book, a ton of .38 special casings and an old registration from '71. Oh, and also two mummified mice :D

The metal pans under the seat and right behind the seat are soft and full of holes, but the subfloor is rock solid as is the wood front floors. Didn't get to spend any time under the hood, just wanted to get her cleaned out today.

Don't get too ahead of yourself, when cleaning. Remember to where a respirator when cleaning out that mouse shit. It can make you REALLY sick. Ask me how I know.:(

For sure, I spent the entire day yesterday in a respirator! Neighbors probably thought I was crazy, but they should know better by now!

Take some time, get a small tape recorder and capture those stories! You can get some one to type them later. The story is as important as the car!

The tape recorder is a great idea. I have a digital recorder for capturing meetings at work so I can use that. Here's a pic of how purple this car really is under the oxidation! This was about 15 minutes worth of work with some polishing compound...

Thanks Chris, your cars were a big inspiration for me.

One of the reasons I'm not chomping at the bit to remove the fenders and banger is because of your Coupe. (That and Grandma would probably kick my ass!)

I'll have to pay attention to the monthly banger meet, I know I need a distributer, as this one is broken. Is Sacramento Vintage Ford a good parts source? They seem to have everything I would need.

Very cool car, and story. You are a lucky man.

You don't need a new roof, you just need to cover that one. It's a leatherback. It's supposed to have vinyl covering on everything behind the quarter windows and above the drip rails. Then you won't have to worry about trying to match up the paint.

Your car is perfect for a "Chris style" fix up. I am working on one (slowly) as well. Keep us updated on your progress. Great car and story!
