Hi Gary, the springs are 2" wide, 1/4" thick and about 35" long with three leafs, C is 4" and the distance to frame is 4.75" with a full tank. The ride is a bit hard but when I need something softer to cruise I´ll take my wifes Wildcat. Kimmo
I realize this is an old post....but I'll update it with a couple of pics of my recent purchase. It's a 1931 Chev 5 window coupe. The car was originally built into a streetrod/show car in Oceanside, NY in the early 70s. It's spent the last 14 years in Florida. 327, TH400, 10 bolt, Mustang 2 front, PS, PB, rumble seat. It has had some of the wood replaced over the years, but all the steel is still original.
Go for it. Your skills could only improve and think about what people would say when you showed them pictures of what you started with. Save the old girl! Scott
Here is mine, not started yet still collecting bits. IFS, 350/400 combo and mustang rear end. At the moment she drives pretty good but will be better in the future
looks to be about a 30 or 31....my neighbor has one sitting in his back yard complete car with original motor and trans rebuilt about 25 years ago but never fired and an uninstalled wood kit. He will never do anything with it except brag about owning it.
While wood was a big problem there are many alternatives to using wood replacement components. Here are a few that are still out there. Normbc9
