I know how you feel man. I used to say "Drink the Kool-Aid" before our corporate circle jerk meetings... then one of my buddies corrected me. I was like "WTF is this shit?"..."Flavor Aid"??

    Ghetto to the max.

  2. Thats too bad, your loss. There has been and always will be some amazing Tech on the HAMB. Sure we have too many folks that are into feeling more than melting metal now...........but the same FTW attitude is still an underlying current. Now, where is that drum circle at..........?:D

  3. Yeah, but I was afraid to say Flavor-Aid on the HAMB cause it might piss some of you old guy's that drink Kool-Aid off :D

  4. you get , a whole lot more than you give ... the tech archives are priceless!

Guess those FNG's gotta lot to learn about the automotive industry and those associated with it. It's a lot like reputation construction workers have, ignorant, red necks, stab ya in the back mentality. Makes em feel good to hang someone else from the end of a rope. It's all in good fun though, plus they're contributing to society by weeding out the faggots.

I've worked in alot of different shops during my career and I can honestly say that 75 % of them were infested with the likes of the above. The only way to survive is to appear to agree with them, nod when they haze someone, pretend to laugh at their hillbilly jokes, never admit to a fuckup and learn to say "yup, thas right."

Not every shop is like this but the good ones are few and far between. The only difference between a high end shop and a low end shop is you'll have a freshly laundered pair of coveralls waiting for you every morning. But the shit wearing them will be the same.

Yes, I took a quite a few razings in my day and gave a few as well. All I can say is I never felt right in doing so but you have to learn the game to survive. The idiots like to be razed, pumps them up for the day. Then they can go home and smack the wife and kick the shit outta their kids. For the rest of us, we just look at one another waiting to punch the clock and shake our heads. Kicking ourselves in the ass for leaving that one good shop in hopes of finding something better.

I don't have to do that anymore thankfully. Being on this board is a good reminder of what it was like when the assholes come out to play and the shit one takes to earn a living. It's just a website and can be quite relaxing not to mention informative. I plan to stick around for awhile and hope other FNG's will too.

If this site was way worse before, why keep it that way. For some thats a definition of traditional, I suppose. I urge everybody lurking around out there to post and become involved. For the younger group thats interested in making a career out of this industry, use this site as reference to what its like in the field. Lots of good people out there but there's always a few that's loud and proud and unfortunatly those are the ones that you seem to remember the most. Just forget them......post something!

Wow, this was fun. I found this place in about 03(?) but only lurked, still in the (B)Army then. No net that I could join on, oh well. When I did get the net I joined so I could exercise my inner arse hole. I think I have done well, this thread gave me something to do but its over, let it go. Its back to fingering my ass and flicking the un-digested corn at passers bye.
    Doc.
