    More L.A. folk here .......

..... north Highland Park, near the Rose Bowl.

We have a well established parts pile going but won't be starting the build 'til after the Rose Parade as I'm earlobe deep in that (I head up construction on Sierra Madre's float).
'Til that time we're indulging in irregular planning and design meetings in the wee hours.

  4. okay so thats a tentative four...
    maybe mid year '07?

    hey mike...
pm or call me when you're back in town...

lets all hook up for a west coast HA/GR meet and greet and b.s. session.

Hey Mitch when are the guys going to come up with one set of rules that everyone can live with? I was planning on using the old 23 T altered with a flathead but see that it is to new (was built in the early 60's) and that the frame is not 3" tubing so that is out. I have everything here to build a car just not going to do something that will not fit into the cl*** and waste my time and money. I see that there is talk about rear engine cars, later model motors, etc. I think it would cool to run them but lets get the rules so everyone can play.
As you know I am willing to run them at the ANRA races if we can come up with a firm cl*** and safety rules.

  6. butch...

i think the thing to do is to not confuse the two.

the HA/GR rules are for HAMB Drags legal HA/GR's.

why dont you, ****, myself and any west coast guys like old6rodder and gary atkinson sit down and come up with an ANRA early gas dragster cl*** that will include HA/GR's but not be limited to or by them....

    Plan9,

I'm on Hillandale off Fig, just north of Fig & York about a mile. Time's really tight (float, as mentioned), 80+ hr weeks for the rest of the year but we'd dig getting it together when the confetti clears.

Probably try to steal any good ideas you have for our own build as well. :D

The Carrows across from the old Northeast Station on York is a possibility, the Trompers have breakfast there on Wednesdays since their old hangout closed down.

ya its a glide with a transbrake no less... left over from a dead project.
im not comitted to it though, because i technically havent started building and i dont want to compramise too much just so i can run the glide. :)

old6rodder - no worries, ill be heading back to the Bay Area for 4 months in a few weeks.. but we should hook up when all the dust settles.

Hey Mr."B" It is about 20-30 min for us. Just because you live in Hickville Ca. Still its only 2 1/2hr drive for ya. Let me know when you pick it up. I'll get "Someone" to come up there with me. And get it..

  15. I'f I may, 'Keep It Simple Stupid'.

We've learn't that sometimes people tend to want to make something multipurpose, but effectively end up making a camel out of a racehorse.

If you want to make a HA/GR car, cool, go for it, or if you want to do some other type of drag car, cool, go for it, but try and be realistic, and don't expect it to be a Salt car, and a street rod, and a 'runnerround'......as you're only kidding yourself.

    K.I.S.S.

Cheers, and look forward to seeing what you guys come up with,

    huh???

    wha???

    where'd everybody go?

  21. Sorry, was wearing blinkers that day, as after our debut over here we've been asked all sort of stupid questions, with some people trying to make their 'proposed' HA/GR car 'multi-purpose, some wanting to add stupid features so they can try to get them registered for 'street use', and other cl***es which are significantly different to what these cars are about.

Anyhow, look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

    Cheers,

only multi purpose stuff i was thinking of would be swapping out a stick for a glide... moreso brainstorming out loud. ;)

some things shouldnt be on the street... like a street legal bellytank.

Have to say that having known and hung out with Old6rodder since the early '60s, he has infected me with the urge to build one of these cars.
Due to financial restraints, it's only in the planning stages at the moment, but I hope to start collecting pieces this year.
Idea is for a true vintage style piece, T or A rails and a vintage Mopar flathead 6 for power.
Really like the idea of a cl*** where you can run true vintage style cars, built like they were when it all started, and run for fun on a budget. Guess I really miss the old days and concept of back yard engineering.

    Excellent,

Another infection at hand. Welcome to the fever. Hell, at this rate we'll rate CDC (Center for Disease Control, for all you illiterates :D ) attention one day.

    Gentlemen,
Well, the confetti's once again cleared. All the parade functions, celebrations, '08 design submissions, Tourament debriefings, ad nauseum, are done, the next float started, and I actually have a life again. That is, minus trying madly to catch up with my poor beleaguered customers.

And so, left coasters one and all, who's still up for the suggested get together at the local (to a few of us at least) Carrows? Plan9, you back in town yet?
