Has anyone sent there car out to be wet blasted? The worst part of a build is endless filthy time consuming cleaning of the body in and out. Not to mention the cost in the end. They claim it will not warp anything. I've been a bodyman for over 40 yrs and have no experiance with this. It's 1500 dollar touch, but it sure would be nice to start on a body that's cleaned and ready for bodywork.

Both Soda Blasting & Ground Gl*** are wet types of blasting. Both expensive. Gl*** system looks cool (U-tube) but was not available around here. Soda was a option for me , but found that paint company's do not recommend due to paint bonding problems due to poor cleaning before painting. I went with the Dry Plastic Beads and may always have some in the car somewhere. They seem to go everywhere, but was less expensive.
Good luck with your choice. Jim

Had my father's '59 Chevy (I know... but they're all steal, right?) wet gl*** blasted. Part of the price is the clean up (the stuff makes a mess!). No warping, and it leaves a nice surface.

I ***ume you are referring to the dustless blasting, like the company in this link; http://dustlessblastingblog.com/?tag=paint-removal, I think it might be a good thing to research a little. It does however look like a viable option so that you can prep and paint quicker. I'm sure that this process leaves paint chips somewhere in the cracks, but it appears less of a h***le than other options.

I've researched this and it's all looks great but i was hoping to find someone that actually had this done and worked on the sheetmetal after to see if it really does not distort panels. Even a little distortion could cause a lot of work after. They claim it doesn't warp but i'm a bit skeptical. I'm lucky in a sense we have a guy here that does wet blasting if i go that route.

I was there when my buddy had his '65 Comet dry ice blasted. Very efficient, very minimal cleanup as the ice evaporates- all that is left is the paint chips and dust. If I recall, it was around $500. The fella came right to his house. No warping either.
