Does anyone know how wet sleeves are anchored , so that the block deck doesnt flex ? Ive heard that the sleeve has a lip at the top ,but what ties it to the base . Thinking stock stroke , big bore flathead .compression plus revs .

I've worked on a few wet sleeve engines and although the liners are secured at the top by a flange that goes into a counterbore in the deck, none had any method of attachment at the bottom. They fit into a spigot at the bottom of the water jacket and the coolant was sealed with o-rings in grooves around the liner. Because of the o-ring grooves, the liners are thicker in the part that goes into the block.

A wet sleeve block is designed for that from the begining............not an adaptable technology in my opinion...........and even if you could get it structurally sound....you'd likely have insurmountable cooling problems.......biggest design flaw in flatties is exhaust port going through the block.......more cubes equals more heat.....

There have been some engineered with reversed ports........meaning the intakes became the exhaust and vice versa........gets the exhaust out quicker with less heat transfer........Cadillac flatties are that way. Caddies are already 346 cubes....why not use one of those?
