I don't think you will have much left after sandblasting or dipping the body. I've seen several good 30-31 coupe bodies for $5000 and 2 door sedan bodies for $3000. Whats your time worth?

I would look at it like this; What parts are there that are good? Then price it accordingly. You could spend a week on the road to pick up a southwest car, and be far, far ahead in the end, even if you have to spend 5 times the 800.00. There are way better bodies out there. This one might be a good side project, but you will have a ton of time in it.

As usual, and unfortunate, when someone asks about the value of a project, the HAMB chimes in saying how anything rough is worthless or yard art or should be had for the cost of a case of beer.

I don't think this car is all that bad, that upper corner bit is going to be a ***** to fix or find replacement metal for but it's got both doors and quarters, if you put this car on Facebook marketplace in Wisconsin, today, with a sale price of $1000 or best offer it'd be sold in a day or two and you'd get close to that.

Nobody is giving away free Model A coupe bodies, even rough ones. That's just dumb. If you can get it for less than a grand, buy it and build that *****. It'll be a good one to rub in the faces of the people who think it was worthless. Door pillars are around if you need them.

ya i think you are correct. would be a fun side side project. but at this point depending on what they ask for it, im not gonna sweat over it. im in the market for a 29-33 body but its not like i NEED it right now. so i wanted to throw this up today and gather youre guys opinions on it. which has been pretty clear that its not worth it. but i think id give a 100 bucks for it, cause its cool. and yea it could be yard art or something that i just pick at and fix up. but i agree. after the sand blasting i think she would be next to tin foil

  8. Depending on price pick it up.
I’ve seen worse turned into gold

What about that thread with the Willy’s upside down in a creek that someone built ?! Turned out great and it was basically dirt and a door hinge !

If it’s cheap enough buy it for parts, you got doors, a turtle deck and other parts as well

**** I bet just cleaning it and putting it on a skid will make it worth around a g-note!!

true wisconsinite. and you are very correct. i think it would be fun doing this project. i think it would be one hell of a sense of acomplishment. of course its not going to be easy, if it was ANYONE and EVERYONE would be doing it. if guys have cars like these laying in the yard that are 100 times better shape, i envy you.
here in wisconsin sometimes we cant travel all over cause of trying to run a farm or travel the work cause of work too pinched for time so. i ran into it today and thought hey this is neat, yea its gonna be work but **** it would be bad*** to see her come together! idk like i said, if the price is right i may grab it.

The rear window panel looks decent with a few dents. That alone usually sells for about $250. Can't tell from the pic if it's solid. Check it over closely. Needs lower patches all around I would guess. As others have said, the drivers side pillar is questionable.

I would only buy that for parts to fix another one. In my opinion all the seams and double metal areas are ready to burst apart on that car.
Just a quick search of CL in Wis. Turned up this guy.

Take a close look at the driver’s side rear roof curve, it’s fried. That’ll take some good English wheel work to replace but overall I wish I had it to work with for my coupe project.

Just figure in how money you will need too spend to tool up to pull off a project like this, then see how much money you have left to buy the car and parts to fix it.

I'm betting the rest of that LH quarter and door is toast too once you get the crud off the inside. You're basically only buying a RH side.

PM me. I have a body for sale that is way better to start with and not in the $5K range you've been seeing. I'm only 300 miles away so if you have a pickup.......

Correct me if I am wrong but the OP ask a legitimate question from the Hamb collective regarding to what's it worth ( In my way of thinking he as asking for opinions ) and like rear ends we all have one, I wouldn't pay more that 100 bucks.

I recently saw a model A coupe body with a trunk lid and no major rot sell for 1,500 and it included a ***le. HRP

If this is your fist time Model A body and you can buy it for $200.00 or less fine. Take it all apart and sell the pieces, you will learn how things are attached, learn how to remove things without damaging them AND make some money. The parts are worth more than the whole body. Been there done that, buying better stuff now. Bob

After doing a pickup that had more rust than that on it I would chime in and say if you got it and started replacing all the rusted metal, you would grow to hate the SOB. There are places that rust that you won't even find until you start cutting it up. More time and money than its worth in my opinion. Try to find a body from out west or the south and have it shipped to you and it will be time and money ahead.

I am in the P*** camp unless it is dirt cheap and/or you want to turn it into a coupester or have a lead on a good roof and pillars. Personally, I have bought a lot of rotted stuff, and I would p*** on that for more than $500 outright and the rest would depend on what it looked like in person.

I always start with junk, and I would p*** on that one. Too many decent A's out there to choose from. I expect the rest is no better than what we can see. Maybe decent doors?

Its worth over $1,000 in parts these days..........I had a really solid '30 5w Coupe body I bought in Montana for $400 that a guy was using as yard art, the rear quarters were cut for a pick up bed so I looked for some '30-31 coup;e quarters to repair this body and the only ones I found were $1,200 alone!!! That model A coupe is rough but if you got some metal shaping an welding ability I would tackle it...................Anyone remember how bad the B*** '29 coupe looked when he got it?

  30. I've thrown better ones than that in the dump. Of course, you could buy good ones for 50 bucks in those days.
