found a yard full of old ford trucks and the guy wont sell anything.he wont even let u look at any of them.he told me he is going to fix them some day.the guy looks like he is in he,s 70,s or 80,s so some day wont ever come.so all them nice old ford f1,s and f100,s r going to turn to dirt.man guy,s like him just piss me off.from what i could see from the road i spoted at least 6 or 7 f100,s from 50,s to 70,s.and there r more in the trees that i couldnt make out very well but they look to be 48-50 f1,s.what a ****py day lol
What's to be pissed about? They aren't yours, and he's not obligated to sell them. And his age has nothing to do with it. Old guys have kids, grand kids, friends that they may want to p*** things on to. Be happy for the guy, and find something important to be pissed about.
It happens all over the place. I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that "some day." Hell, I might even get all my projects done before the Reaper comes.
Ha! I just had a thought. I wonder if that guy is sitting at home right now all pissed about "another damned kid trying to buy my stuff today".
I've never been able to understand why a person that has just found some old cars that are not for sale has to come on here and start a rant about it. It happens about once a week and after everyone posts exactly what they posted the last 1,473 times the subject has come up and the thread dies after about 3-4 pages. Get over it and get on with your life. Frank
i ask around and everybody told me he has been that way for the last 40 years he gets the stuff and wont sell and he never fix,s any thing they told me.i know a lot of car guys around here and they told me they have asked him to and he says not for sell going to fix some day.the guy down the road from him has a mustang in his yard and i stoped to ask about it and we got to talking about him and he told me when he frist moved into the place he went over to talk to the guy and he wouldnt sell and that was back in the early 70.s.but as my freind says there r more fish in the woods lol. so im not to bent over it .ill just keep looking.there is that one yard out there that ill find and he will be willing to sell.luck o the irsh.
Take him some Girl scout cookies, tell him the girl scout took you for a ride and you bought way more than you could ever eat and you remembered the cool old guy with the trucks and figured it was a perfect excuse to go for a visit. thats a start for getting him warmed up to ya? maybe? I've done this for a wwII vet almost 80 trying to get a 1944 jeep trailer and 35 ford wire wheels. its about time for another visit, maybe this time in my jeep to offer him a ride, since it's probably been 65 years since he drove one in germany..... he's got some really neat stories too and nobody to tell them to. I see a nice trailer in my future...
Yep!---FAB32 Frank is right!---I'll be 80 next year & have heard the same rant! Also, that type guy is of the "posessive" group---"Gonna fix er' up some day".
Maybe when someone tells him "you'll never get all of these fixed before you die," he hears "you're going to die soon." Selling them may be, to him, an acceptance of the reaper's visit. Just a thought as to a possible reason behind all of these threads about "that crazy old guy who won't sell me his ****."
I get somebody trying to buy my F150 all the time and it's 9 years old. I just tell them "if it were for sale, it would have a sign on it."
he probably is sick of slack-jawed yokels coming around asking to buy his **** with no money in their pockets. it's his **** anyway, let him have it. wait for the estate sale sign. (lol)
There is TONS of early tin in WA, even on the west side.... You'd probably **** if ya saw my stash and it is in town...
What the hell gives guys like you the idea that just because you want something people will sell it to you ? No need to whine about it ,just keep looking.
"Damn boys been wackin in my tool shed" another way to think bout it... when the older guy p***es.... you can but them from his kids after a while for cheap prices possibly.... Or offer to buy his casket for a few of the Fords.... hahah
Man, if this pisses you off, there must be a lot of other things in the world that piss you off as well.
Dude that DOES ****!! I know where there is a complete 32 2 door sedan COMPLETE been in a dry storage shed for going on 50!!! years the owner is about 70 or so and wont even discuss selling WONT BUDGE!!!!
You may have went there with the true intention of buying something, but there have probably been several in the past years that went in to look around at the inventory, only to have parts disappear shortly afterwards. There never seems to be a shortage of s***bags that alienate these owners and make them defensive against anybody that makes an inquiry. You might try a different approach, ask him if there is anything he's looking for & maybe you can find it and do some horse trading with the guy ? Or invite him to see your projects so you can build up some trust, so he can see that your not just another thief. You obviously both have a common interest, even if he still won't sell anything he may share other valuable information or his experience.
I hate to see somebody coming on my place that looks like they want to buy something. I'd just as soon they keep on going down the road. From my experience anybody local enough to walk onto your place doesn't want to give you a fair price for anything, they expect you to go to a bunch of work so they can get it off your place and after they have it they piss and moan that this or that wasn't right. I'd just as soon sell something to somebody a state or two away. Then you find someone that really wants whatever you are selling and willing to shell out a fair price for it. Plus a guy three states away isn't going to drive back 1000 plus miles and steal **** off of whatever it is they wanted just because it's their opinion that you aren't ever going to do anything with it and it's just going to waste. At my age 70 isn't looking that far away and if I don't get around to something before I die you might get a chance to buy it at my estate auction. Hopefully there will be a bunch of guys come from other states with cash in there pockets.
get over it and find another truck...those arent the only F100s ever made. some of these threads are starting to sound like face book with everyone *****ing. go work on something...
Maybe you should have said : "another damned kid trying to STEAL my stuff today for next to nothing" which is usually the case when someone finds the Field of Dreams. R-
And I'd put money that if the old guy said, "OK, it's ALL yours for $$ whatever (cheap)" the whiners wouldn't have the cash anyhow. Just a guess based on a lotta years of real life experience.
