I cannot imagine that the person that loses an unsecured load would not be responsible for damage caused by their negligence, just because his stuff touches the road before inflicting the damage. I also am tired of stuff being lost on the highway that wasn't tied down. It was good of the OP to step up, but it was preventable. Someone could have been killed and many inconvenienced by the resulting traffic jam. Think of the "****py day" the victim had! ~Alden
It amazes me how many people will tailgate a truck loaded with old junky car parts that could slip off at any moment!
Just to set the record straight the guy I bought it from owns the largest concrete company in anehiem and he had his worker shrink wrap the entire load. I was in a hurry to get back to my daughter and rushed out without inspecting. All my fault, full responsibility.
Sorry to hear about the loss ! When I sold my 1937 Willys Coupe the buyer sent a rollback to pick it up & on the highway the steel deck lid folded over the roof landed in traffic & ended up flat as a pancake !
Responsability is awesome and rare in allot of states, you did the right thing and that part will reurn to you in another way that you may not recognize. Good for you.
