I have wanted to do something like that for as long as I can remember...and with the right place I do not think it would be a hard sell to my wife. I even know the perfect place...a 1930s stone construction combination gas station and bus stop with hotel rooms on a 2nd floor. Unfortunately neither of our healths are good enough to tackle another rehab

 

Speaking of bad health and old age............ How about an old barn? I've dreamed about an old school house, gas station or barn. Came close after getting married to buying a one room school house.
We are moving back to Illinois because of age. Our oldest son almost convinced us to buy a small mobile home and put it on his farm property. All he owns is the house, two barns, and out buildings.
I convinced him we'd put it in one of the barns. We came so close we got the permits lined up and the home picked out.
With luck I found the perfect little house in town so that dream fizzled out.
