I like 32 5windows better than 32 3 windows... Don't ask me why... I guess I've seen more that flip my lid...

I love 33-36 3 windows though... The 5Ws don't even hold a candle those years.

If the price was right I don't think I would care,,,but Deuce is right,,,the 3 window is easier to get in and out if you are tall, old and a little over weight,,this comming from a guy that drives a 32 pickup,,talk about small and cramped!:D HRP

I lean more towards a 5 window but would never turn my back on a 3 window! A well done coupe is a thing of beauty.

In their day, the Ford 3W Coupes were heavily marketed toward the female buyer as practical. beautiful, stylish.

  10. I prefer the look of the 5 window, same size cabin for both but the 3 window looks heavier to me.

Maybe because there were 3w and 5w cars during those years????;)

Some of the best looking coupes during those years are NOT Fords.....:D

Guess I should have used the past tense in my comment about my 3W -- it's been gone for two years. And thanks for the trade offer, Groucho, but I have 2 Victorias with good visibility now.

As a rough rule of thumb, a 3W looks best chopped, whereas I like 5w's chopped or stock height. The extra window on 5W's does add extra old timey character to the car.

On 33-34's, the comment about 'gl*** variations is valid over here in the UK since our 'gl*** manufacturers over here have never made a gl*** 5w, therfore any 5W has to be an imported steel car.

Finally, just to add fuel to the fire, I have an original 1934 Ford dealer brochure that outlines the various models. For the 3w it states, and I quote.....

"New Ford V-8 Coupe (Three Windows)- A paticularly good choice for the woman motorist."

Hey, don't flare up at me, its what Henry said! :)

Yeah...I know, I prefer Fords myself (your blue 5W was perfection)....but there were plenty of cool ol' hotrod coupes built other than Fords "in the ol' days"....:)

Wow - set down the HAMB for a couple weeks and look at this thread just explode.
Jeem - It's funny, but I always preferred Marry Ann, I married a librarian (that's a schoolboy fantasy come to life) I much prefer the country, will take flapjacks any day, I've been to Bob's Bait Shop and spent many late nights at Denny's before I was "safe" to drive home. I guess I'm a 5 window guy.

Here's what spawned my question: I got a rough 28 Es*** that sat on its roof for a while. The cowl is shot and the roof is thin as tissue paper and swiss cheese. Now, I like a roof over my head while driving, otherwise it would be a relative cinch to make a roadster, right? That being said, I was mocking things up, and with me sitting comfortably in the car, my head is WAY back behind the 3 window sail panels. I need to replace the roof anyway, and was looking at the roof of a 28 Model A tudor I have in the garage and the gears started turning. I've worked it out on paper and photochop, and I think I can pull off a home-made 5-window setup WITH suicide doors with just the materials I have sitting in my garage. At least that's where my mind is taking me as I spend hours staring at the sillouette of the car in my garage without power. Once I get that puppy wired, the cutoff wheel and welder will come into play. So stay tuned.

And thanks for all the opinions.

This make sense, since I prefer 5 windows and always wanted to screw Mary Ann more than Ginger. :D

Some people might consider a Model A Sport Coupe a 3 window, and yea, there were cars other than Fords built those years.

My preference for the 5 window over the 3 window has nothing to do with the windows at all.
I prefer the 5 window because I find the high crown of the door skins on a 3 window make the car look "fat" and the sweep of the suicide door front edge may compliment the cowl/hood line on a '33-'34, it fights visually with the straight up and down cowl/hood line of the '32.

But you know down deep than Ginger would be more fun on a weekend get away ... but then Mary Ann caught caught with a bunch of maryjane a while back  she may be getting a little wild in her old age.

  25. I'm not sure why, but I think the 5 windows look better.

I gotta say I'm partial to the 3W. but I'll throw a loop into this question/poll.
I like the 32 Packard 3W as a full on highboy Hot Rod as penned by Thom Taylor.
It was in a Rod & Custom several years back.

If this was 33-34 3w inclulsive, I'd a said a 34 3W. My bro used to refer to mine as Mr. Sinister! I like em black.

Well, Blonde, Brunette, or Redhead??? Caucasian, Latino, Asian??? We all have our preferences...

I've always preferred the 5 window over the 3. I've seen many fine examples of each, but IMO, the 3 window cars have more of a "street rod" look to them, while a 5 window has the "bad boy hot rod" look.

Also, since it was the baddest car in the Valley, if it was good enough for John Milner, well it's good enough for me...
