What are the differences between a '25 T coupe door and a '26-7 T coupe door? Are they interchangeable? If not, could they be with a little work? r
They look close from ten feet. Is that good enough? Would take a lot of steel work on the inside. And if you wanted it to be real exact, would be a substantail bit of work on the lip around the window. And then there's the size difference, taken care of with thin strips added and subtracted. I have a pair of 25ish skins I bought to use on an A pickup someday. But that truck would be a chopped and channelled hack-job that will be so far from stock it shouldn't make any difference. I'm still looking for one more 27 T or A door for my stock-bodied truck.
I know the '25 is a wood framework. Maybe I need to quntify myself. I'm not afraid of metal work, I just need to know if it's worth the effort. Does one need to completely re-work the '25 or just some cut and reweld required? r
If you have a pair, and don't mind welding, I'd say go for it and save yourself $500. If you are trying to match one 25 to one 26/7, I'd say don't.
The width is around 1/4" or so different. The middle hinge is in a different spot, not on the belt line like the 26/27. I think the height from the beltline to the bottom of the door is the same (I think). They are close enough that it can be made to work without too much effort. It's been a couple years since I had my '25 doors, but I had pondered doing the same thing for a while.
