Okay, I've been building this '29 A tub for about five years now. When I got it, it was completely disassembled. I've got it just about done, and today I am repairing and fitting the door sill covers (specific to Phaetons).

Well, they were in the last box of parts I had from the day I got it, and under them in the box were these small pieces. They have beads stamped in them similar to the sill covers, but I can't find anywhere to put them:confused:

I need to know what these are, and if I am going to use them, before I tear the car apart for paint.

    Any of you guys know?

They're not door sills. I've got the sills on the car now, and even the short rears are a lot longer than these pieces. They have the Ford script stamped in them. Also, on Phaetons, the door sills act as part of the bead that shows under the doors.

These match the sills in style very closely, so I figure they attach somewhere near the doors.

You can see the sills in the background of the above photo.

Maybe they cover some part of the subrails in the cowl area? These might be something shared with the roadsters?

Ok, guess you have to post the question on the Ford Barn, and have an "Expert" ID them. Bob:)

They fit behind the rear door sill plates and the rear seat risor. along the top of the subrail

O.K. Thanks! I'll check that out. Most likely that means I can't use them. I replaced the rear section behind the front seat(the only rusty part) of the sub-rails with 1 1/2"x 2" tubing and raised it above the original sub-rails to provide some extra suspension travel.

Here's a pic of the area on one I have, it goes right behind the door jam and the seat risor

I just went out and checked. With my modifications, I can't use them. KB...I don't suppose you need them? You can have them, free of charge if you need them.
