Just picked up a 1940 Sedan and doing a check over before it I take it in for its safety inspection. I pulled the back wheels of and discovered I believe I have 46-48 hub on the outside of the drums. The issue is the previous owner had the drums turned and looks like he separated the hubs off the drums and them gut tack welded in new wheel studs to the drum. They are all breaking free. Most of the info I can find is all about hub behind the drum breaks. Any way to salvage this? IMG_1320.jpeg

Fronts are the same way. You should have to have a license to run a welder.
Probably need to look into the swedging tool

Looks like a hole saw was used to get the studs out. Then the PO went all the way through the drum and wanted to reuse the original studs.
You might run a 5/8ths bit through and see if it cleans up, then find a stud from Dorman to fit it all together.
I don’t think there’s anything to swage to with original or original replacement studs.
    Just my guess.

  4. If everything is screwed up bad you can always get some inner hub hubs and drums. Find some push in studs to fit and open up the drums so you have slip on drums......worst case scenario.
