A friend of mine gave me a pair of these little plates to hold my registration tags. I need to buy a pair to give back to him. Does any one know what they are called? I believe that the CA DMV sells them but I can't find them on the web site. The red arrows are pointing to the plates I am talking about. Thanks for any replies.

When I registered my year of manufacture plates in CA, the DMV sent me the little plates along with the tags. I haven't seen them for sale anywhere.

Texas DMV issues the same kind of tags when year-of-manufacture plates are to be used. Ours are simply cut out of thin aluminum. I'd suspect you can make your own, or your DMV may be able to provide replacements - but not free, of course. Good luck!

They are just called tag toppers but I'm not sure if the DMV here in Cali will give or even sell those type of things. I'm pretty sure you can get that kind of thing from an antique store, speed shop, or just make them yourself. I would do the latter.

Thanks. I'll search for tag toppers and will stop by the DMV when I have an hour to burn.

I got some stainless and made mine. I need to make them better, but they work for now.
