I bought these doors sight unseen thinking they might be 55 Chevy. They’re not. What are they?

Are you sure, or guessing? I thought that might be it but wasn’t sure about the trim holes.

I'm pretty sure, based on looking at pictures of the Ford service manual for those years that show the inside of the door, and also knowing that that particular shape of door was used those two years.

The trim looks like the 55 Custom.

    Jim. Guessing, again.
How many times have we gotten after you about this?
Don't forget what happened the time you told that poor man how to "fix" his brakes.

It’s sky blue, so maybe a Blue Ta
thanks. Great answer. As to me being young and green, not so much. I’ve got about 50 early cars and bikes (back to 1915) and have had two episodes of American Pickers filmed at my shop.

@judgeyoung I believe the young and green remark was aimed at @squirrel, which if you have been here long, you'd know was teasing! :)

    everyone's always picking on me!

oh...one other way to tell right away that a door is GM or Ford is the shape of the hole for the lock. GMs used a round hole with 4 square tabs poking into it, while Fords had that funky old keyhole shape.

  12. I'm looking at the shape of the door handle paint remains, concur it's not Chevy.

upload_2025-4-19_9-41-17.jpeg 1952-56 Ford door handle shape looks to be the same shape as the leftover paint remnants. 55-56 Ford looks spot on. upload_2025-4-19_9-41-17.jpeg
