    Beer ?? !!
Might be worth the 20 hr (ish) drive

How about bring "real" beer to Meltdown and you guys tell me my engine made the most HP (Not judging)

  5. Pretty sure someone will make the most HP and someone will make the most HS.

it's INSANE how much you can learn, ..oil leaks, water leaks, fuel curve, carb spacers, ignition timing.. etc..without hauling to the track, waiting in line.then an hour + in between runs,(if you're on a mission).. >>.. then you know what you need.timing/jetting/spacers/pulleys, etc.. confidence when you pull the trigger (unless you're me.....another story,,,..... yeah, i'm my own worst night mare, I never listen to me..... ) do what i say not what i do.........(duh) you know where you need to be on your tune up...i can run an easy 5 seasons worth of drag races in my room, in a day.. and i don't have to wait in line, then....>>>ooohh i short shifted, wasn't a good burn out... blah,blah,blah.. just data.... but .....and then some body with 577 H.P. corvette runs a 12.80 (!/?) wtf ??? then somebody with 270 h.p.willy's runs 12.00... wtf?? not about the number,it's about optimizing your combination, and having FUN ! yeah it's confusing.(all about torque)
doesn't matter, no judging here, just fun.,and learning. and giving each other shit about it: )
i can't tell you what the thing will do in the car, but i can tell you about power.and try my best to make it fun. ..seriously.
we have the latest, superflow dyno facility, and i an't afraid to use it !!

    sorry racer-x.
no chassis dyno. just a state of the art 902+ superflow engine dyno. sorry, >>my apologies. they (chassis dyno)have their place, for sure, and can be a life saver in certain situations... and if i was a kazillionaire... i would have both .but engine dyno is my bread and butter,/ learning tool. while the chassis dyno has certainly got it's place, for different combinations... and different situations..>>.. for sure.. another story.. but i don't got no stinkin' chassis dyno.. just pile your junk in your truck bring it !, yeah, 10 pounds of tire pressure = 55 H.P. ,, there's another story.... but as far as things go, they(chassis dyno) are very useful.
and i regret not listening to the data.
    doh!! ($$$$$$)

The torque curve won't be quite that flat, but it will be enough to "Rope-a-Dope the Okie Doke"....;)

And Jeff just doesn't have enough "Bore and Stroke" to be the "Antidote" to the "Rope-a-Dope".......NOPE.

Steve I would bring mine down, but I am afraid it may not even run. I would rather save the humiliation for the privacy of my garage, then just ask a bunch more stupid questions on here. Plus If I don't know the actual numbers I can lie about it to my buddies :) It's cool that you are offering though!!!

Yep, chassis dyno's are inaccurate as far as actual, precise torque readings (except the ones that bolt to axle flanges) even they are prone to variables, IE; gearbox temp, drive line angle, gear set up,then throw a torque converter in there, and that's a whole other story.... .but are a very very helpful tuning tool>sometimes.no way around it,like if your engine is already in the car, or if you have electronic fuel injection, or a bunch of systems built in the car. it's just too much work to transfer all that stuff to an engine dyno. . (computer, wiring harness, fuel system, etc..)
on a chassis dyno ,you can tighten the straps, change air pressures, rear axle angle ,transmission oil temp changes output too. main thing on those, is the tuning capabilities, and comparative testing. wow ,they are awesome for that.. for sure !!
There are lots of variables on a chassis dyno, . but ,again, very useful tuning tool. as long as you don't move the car, or change your tie down procedure. i use one of those things a bunch at another shop. Really learn a bunch there too .! You need to make a base line test, before you make changes, to be accurate as possible. but most of the stuff we do here is old school, mechanical fuel injection, super chargers. turbochargers, carburetors, dry sump, alky/gas,nitrous. etc.. but don't do much electronic injected tuning stuff. not very convenient to put a racecar on the chassis dyno, if it's gonna blow the tires off anyway. or a circle track car, ..they have some whacky rear suspension with rear steer in it !! plus as an engine builder, it's much easier to make cam timing changes, look for oil leaks, adjust valves,re-torque heads, etc.. before it's in the car. and i great repeatability.
**yes, really found 60 H.P.(!) with tire pressure.(14X32X15W slicks)> also changed by changing tie down strap tension, and position of tires on roller.. or pinion angle (!)

    hope that helps !!!

    Someday maybe .....

  24. Back in the day, lots of guys would "PowerTune" their cars on 400HP, Clayton chassis dynos. Dad used one in Glendale owned & operated by Rex Carson, with tuning help from Eric Avril. The old PC&J '56 had distributor access through the glove box door, because of the engine set back. They'd get the engine loaded 4th gear, and lug it at the peak torque rpm, and he'd advance the timing until it rattled, then back it of just a tick. When he built the 400" small block, he said he knew it was a good one when it pegged the needle (ran off with the dyno), at only 5000 rpm. I'll add a pic of Eric's 409 powered moly orange 56 when I find it.

Nice Pic Steve. You have more Blowers in your shop than we do in 3 counties. I can't find anyone around here that knows anything about them.
