Who said we don't eat bacon ??? I'm like that dog with the bacon treats... bacon bacon bacon ... BACON !! we have bacon flavored ice cream... we eat bacon !! It's almost our national pastime !! I prefer the traditional bacon over the Back/Canadian bacon in question... hell son... I made a bacon wrapped turkey for thanksgiving a few years back. I put bacon slices down the middle of my meat loaf, I bbq bacon wrapped steaks and bacon wrapped hot dogs... I'm pretty sure I invented the bacon stacker concept years befor Burger King... Just didn't want to make a big deal out of something I was sure every other guy in the world was already doing... I have a bag full of "real" bacon bits so I can add it to everything...

    Bacon Rules !!
(But you guys already knew that)

Well I guess that backfired like my 409. Speaking of 409 hope to get a chance next month to that it down to Mo Kan and get some test and tune on this heap so maybe I wont embarrass myself to bad next year.

Gotta love Redline... went looking for him Sunday am last Meltdown... no-where to be seen. Probably drove the Stude into town for breakfast. One of my upgrades this winter is a bigger rad so I can make the ride into Sam's without having to stop. The 3 of us (and more) should coordinate the trip in and make a grand entrance

  8. My two brothers, my son Solomon & I followed several of the SEG guys to Sam's in the '56.., it was BAD ASS! It was pretty funny, most of us cruising down the street with one or both doors open to get some air circulation as we have non working"pinned" plexi door windows.

I did exactly the same thing in the Scout. With it overheating it got hot very fast. (gets hot fast even withou overheating). I was cruising down main street like it was a return road.

He was probably in our pit, claiming the grudge race Ric promised and looking for an easy kill since "The Child" hadn't been acting right all weekend. Thankfully we had turned the magic dial that morning and made it a good race, actually 3 good races! Had a blast hangin' out with Tom, Scott and Scott's Dad Sunday!

Squirrel the only problem I can see you having at the Meltdown is deciding which car to bring. I would like to see them both!

So I guess I am gonna have to find a stronger rear end to put in the Willys cause I can't keep this quickchange from falling apart!!! Hell at the hamb drags I broke both axles and hurt the spool real good so I have since put a gold trac locker and new 4140 forged 31 spline axles anyhow I drove it to Tulsa this past weekend and ran it at the duck drags and I sure would like an explanation as to how in the hell I could bend both axles like I did I've already got return authorization for them and they are gonna stand behind them but that is not my issue I wanna know what caused it so I can correct the issue any help will be appreciated here is a video of the axle running in my lathe so you can see how they are bent this one is the left side the right one is bent too but not quite as bad

Ok guys I am going to try and round up some parts for the ignition for the 409. I have a 6AL box I could use but I don't want to if I don't have to. So I have a single point and a duel point dist on hand. Been thinking of using the duel point with one set of points not sure if I need duels or not. What your thoughts on this way of thinking? Have been shopping for a coil not sure whats the best. I have used the big yellow Accel super coils in the past with good luck in the past. Is there a better coil out that is better for a points system? Would an internal resisted coil be better or external resisted be better? Thanks I am open for ideas less going with the MSD.

hmmmm....I'm running low 10s and the occasional 9 with an old Mallory dual point with old used points, and a normal black can coil. No electronics at all. But just because I can do it, doesn't mean you'll be able to.

An older friend of mine was running MP class in the late 60s with his chevelle with a 427, he had a dual point Vette distributor, but switched back to a normal single point GM distributor. I think he said he revved it a bit north of 7000 rpm. he held a record for one day, I think in the high 10s. Again, just because he could do it back then, doesn't mean you can do it today.

    just food for thought.

I know what you mean squirrel. I will be lucky if I can make it run as good as it did back in 1962.

that's not what I meant at all....I am just providing a couple examples, showing that old fashioned point distributors can do amazing things. We forget how well they worked, we automatically assume that a car won't run unless it has the latest fancy electronic gizmos. Guess what? we're wrong about that, the old stuff still works. I'd give it a try.

That is my plan just thought I would get a good coil.

Its kinda like going back to school learn how to make it run then step on it.

  22. Yeah, LOL , Tricky Steve got a pretty good zap off my old dual point at the 2014 Meltdown Drags...

You know that you can use a dual point distrubutor one set at a time then use the other to retard at high speed right. Simple toggle switch the old fashioned non-electronic system retard system.

A well setup point distributor in good shape is all you need. The new stuff is much easier to adjust because the manufactures design them that way but once it's done it only takes one good spark at the right time.

  25. Get some Accel points, they have a nice heavy spring. A single point will do it and a chrome blaster, or the old Accel big job.

  29. Took my coupe to the track and off the trailer the way I drive it on the street first pass went 10.004 @146 only made one more pass went 9.91 @144 so it guess I am going to have to put some more cage in this little thing if I want to keep running it. The car weighs 2440 with me in it should go low 9s with the low boost tune. Needs some suspension work also hops around a bunch out of the hole with no front shocks it lifts real good then slams back down and kinda unloads the rear so I got some more work ahead of me besides my ford

Holy crap!Thats one angry little coupe.
I remember standing behind you at the line at the Meltdown, watching the car jump around as you left, looked like you were doing some work to keep it pointed the right direction the first hundred feet or so,then it looked like it got rear ended by an invisible freight train!!!!!!
I can't think of many cars offhand that have that kind of insane top end charge....It looked like a missile going through the traps!!!

Congrats on the 9 second timeslip!:)

    Scott
