    Well,the passenger's side is done.Now on to the 50% complete driver's side.

    Then it's:

    Run fuel line

    Assemble motor

    Install motor and transmission

    Plumb and wire line lock

Move battery to trunk and re-do wiring

Install Sun tach and shift light

    Paint hood

    Fab mounting points for hood

    Re-assemble interior

    Re-assemble rearend

Learn to drive this little piggy!lol

    Ps:
It took me a while to reply, cause I was visiting my Mama, and she'd give me a whack upside the head if she knew I was pickin on you two donkeys.;) lol

So Norb, you're pretty much ready to run?Just load up and go?Have you had a chance to do any test n tune-ing yet?

And Jeff, are you going to make it out to the track this weekend for a few test passes?I betcha just the gears alone move that car from a 12.30 to an 11.70 or so.

This year is gonna be fun!:)

Can't wait to see you two and make some passes.I think the "off-track betting" is going to be on fire for some of these Match Races;)

Put the updated seat belts in Saturday, got a new Q.F. 1050 carb. main body today to change

from the old bracket tune to kill tune;). The rest of the carb. parts should be here in a couple of days.

Looks like first T.N.T. will be at Great Lakes Dragway day before the G.L.D. the first 20 years event.

I agree this year should be a blast, Cant imagine the fun this group will be with everyone at one place.

  11. Only in the 11's if he remembers to readjust his modulator since he leaves the shifter in D for drag. Make it easier, Jeff just disconnect the vacuum line to the modulator, but don't forget to plug the vacuum source. Don't want to lean out that 383.., er uh, 283.

    Ric:
Jeff and Koop both swear that the Hokey Croaker is powered by an honest 327" motor (if it's .030" over it's 331,but you know what I mean.)I'm pretty close to believing them at this point...

    Norb,on the other hand,I believe is packing what we'll refer to as a "327 Magnum".....lol! ;)

That Chevelle is gonna get up and scat! With all the time that's been put into that car sorting out the chassis over its many years as a drag car, plus Norb doing his homework and assembling a really tough little engine, that car will flat out fly.
If you guys want to see a fast SBC at the Meltdown, watch for the red Tickety Boo Chevelle to roll to the line.Youre gonna be impressed!:)

Gulp......That carb is gonna be worth some serious power over your little bracket carb,I'm sure.

Anybody wanna distract Norb with some free beers and burgers while I load his trunk full of old brake rotors and engine blocks before we race?I need an equalizer here!lol!

Cant take credit for the chassis Scott, it was built by a man named Harlen Clark
before you could order them in a catalog. Their are many s.b.c. powered cars at the
Meltdown Drags faster than Tickety Boo.
A lot of guys have more money in their engine than I have in my whole car.

I agree with Saltflats (the most fun with the least amount of money spent):)

Is that what a Sock ff..rrr is?

Jeff should put a go-pro cam on the rear window and a can holder on the dash:rolleyes:

Then make a 1/4 mile pass. video with shifter in D while sipping his favorite beverage as
Scott is darting around (using up his lane ramming gears).

Play the video to the song (See The U.S.A. in your Chevrolet)

Oh he'll have lent of time to "see the USA in his Chevrolet" alright Norb....

Trouble is,I'll already be on the return road, picking up a little piece of paper from the nice folks working at the timing shack.
Jeffro's still gonna be chugging along at about the 1000' mark..."gee,this sure is a swell trip we're takin'....I see we'll be makin' a left up at the far end of the track where Scott did...yessir.....any time now......yup.....big Ol left turn....comin up....oooon theeee lefffft......here we go...finally.....turnin left.......Hey,where'd everybody go?Guess I better turn my headlights on,it's gettin' dark...."

There's gonna be time for plenty of songs,Norb.;)

I couldn't agree with that whole philosophy more,Norb.

Maximum fun for the dollar spent is what the Meltdown is all about, and at no event in the country will you see more horsepower produced by hard work rather than cubic dollars.

A huge bank account doesn't buy you any glory at the Meltdown.Callouses on your hands, grease under your fingernails, and many hours spent preserving a historic race car,or recreating one,is where it's at.

Late nights out in the garage, getting carbs sorted out, dropping bodies onto chassis, getting that last panel arrow-straight,or squeezing the last hp out of your home-built race motor with a couple of buddies.Thats where it's at.

Hanging out at the track collecting "Atta Boy"'s instead of collecting prize money...

Knowing that you're hanging out with absolute BEST group of 'Car Guys' on the planet, instead of worrying if you will be the center of attention with your mega-dollar,name dropping,pro-built car.

All of that stuff is the Meltdown Drags, fellas.

Norb has it nailed. There are many who have spent more, but none who will have more fun with a better bunch of folks.

My Dad and I can hardly wait to see you all again. Its gonna be crazy this year!:)

AJ - you are right (wow...that was really weird to type)

Scott does get it, so do 98% of the people on this thread....and the 550 people who are pre-registered for the Meltdown.

We each do it for our own reasons, but we share in the fact that we aren't doing it for money or "to win"....that is what makes it so cool. Scott and I like to talk a little trash, but I have so much respect for that guy. I consider myself lucky to race him. He is a salt of the earth kind of guy who is on the edge of crazy....love it!

Norb - a bunch of us will be at the GLD first 20 years....please come and park near us and join us...it is a great test-n-tune before the Meltdown.

Thanks for the invite Jeff, God willing we will be there friday and camp over night. :)

Have not found any rules posted for this event? My guess is cars to 1975 because
    G.L.D. opened about 1955.

Looking forward to meeting every one:cool:

  27. Now I see why Cassandra told me she was all booked up making tombstones with individual names for some guy who works at night. ;) I thought "Why would anyone do that?" Grave digger?
