So what did you end up running for power in that Falcon? What trans and gear are you running?

Looking forward to seeing it run in person!:)

  2. Ya, we noticed there, Cap'n Turn Signal :)

  3. I think a dual point might have a different point cam?

It has a sbf in it. Put a 5.14 gear in it before last race. Broke the liberty top loader at Greer. Will have a hightower in it this week

Has anyone used both a hand and foot brake in a dragster = rear brakes only? I would like to run a traditionally placed left side foot brake and a hand brake on the right side. A hydraulic system would be nice and tiddy compared to a mechanical linkage set up.

Meltdown plan"B" got one step closer to being back on the road, finished the fuel block, fuel lines, pressure gauge, and return springs on the new Rochester set up.

    Ric:
That's why I have taken to unscrewing the turn signal arm and placing it in the top tray of my toolbox as soon as I get the car off the trailer.lol!
I'm like 10lbs of shit jammed into a 5lb bag in that little car.My head touches the headliner BEFORE I put the helmet on!lol!

I did find a source for those Covico wheels that Gas Ronda used though, and they are really comfortable, and surprisingly affordable, too. After sitting in his car,and talking to Steve Brasher (Son of the late, great "Big Bad" John Donilson of the "Dixie Stripper" T-Bolt fame),I believe I am going to re-install my stock seats for a bit more comfort and piece of mind if it ever got away from me.If you google Steve's Dad's name, you will see the unfortunate incident that led to my decision to replace my plastic buckets.

Anyway, the car should be a lot more comfortable to drive this year with these seats and the right wheel;the old one had a bit too shallow of a dish to it for my liking,in relation to the seat placement.it was either fold my legs up shekel ward as hell under the wheel and get my arm position comfortable,or get my legs right and streeeeeeeetch to reach the wheel.

The coupe is Mike Zenor's old car the Ziggy Stardust Coupe a.k.a. The Coupe of Justice or a.k.a. The Space Chimp. I was lucky enough to pry it from Mike's hands a few years ago.....I think I'm just holding on to it for him, it could go to Austin. Thanks for the kind words the car is fun to work on but I deserve little credit. Attached a short video Mike made for it's debut.

Man, found my ultimate drag car of all time. 1963 Pontiac Tempest. Had the 468 Butler Performance engine, 400 Turbo Trans, the whole 9 yards. Setup like a Super Stock of the day but it also had a roll bar in it. Was willing to trade the roadster, the Falcon and my 1996 GMC Z71 Offroad extended cab that I've had since new that only has 18,632 miles on it for the car. Problem was the guy was selling the car because of health issues and didn't have room or the energy for the 3 vehicles to trade. DAMN!!!

I felt the same way when Mike's coupe went up for sale, the car flipped me out when I first saw it at the Cheater's show. I had to make a few moves cause I'm just a working Joe and it was a stretch money wise but I have no regrets. My advise is go for the dream car and worry about it later.

It's a little more complicated than that. I have a wife that finds having a Falcon that I've had in our shop for over 10 years is a little much. She's not to keen on the Tempest and thinks that I have to many cars already. I know, what's wrong with her? Well as of late I've haven't had much time to work on much things with wheels and she thinks this might be another one of those vehicles. I wonder if the bank takes wives in as collateral. LOL Just having a hard time trying to get rid of my stuff as it is. I don't want to put the household in debt because of my wants.

Ric the dist one would be talking about is for a 409.
This just had me thinking because of the problems I was having in Great Bend last year witch I was running 1 set in the duel point dist.

When on a front wheel hunt and came up with these looks like the Cragers are 6 inch not the best choice but got one rocket. Anyone have a mate for this? 20150506_182221.jpg

I might, I bought a pair of Rockets a while back, but I can't remember what width they are! I'll have to look through my pile...

  26. I'm pretty sure a dual point has a different cam for properly opening /closing two sets of points, so trying to run one set, would throw you a curve. (no punneton intended)
Can you check with your 409 buddy and see if he's got a 409 block he'd sell. One of the Border Bandit dudes on here needs one.

Happy Birthday to a living legend. I'd would be great if the MDA could get him as a special guest for the Meltdown before his time comes.

Is everything on schedule and ready to go for the Meltdown at your place?Last I remember, thy big Ol 500" motor was in and ready to rock, but did you have any other loose ends to tie up?

We'll have to get together and lie about how fast our cars are,and go out and make a couple passes, then change the subject to baseball real quick after our shit doesn't run like we say it's gonna....lol

It's gonna be good to finally shake your hand and say hello. So many guys I never got time to track down last year cause of clutch problems or time spent babysitting my shit in the swap meet.:(
