What are you doing with your car stuff when you die?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by falconwagon62, Jan 6, 2008.

  1. I'm one of those guys that does not disclose to the wife what stuff cost..
"oh that truck right there..I got it for $300" I paid $2500...

I asked her one day what she thought all my tools were worth. I have 2 rollaways full of snapon, mac and matco, and all sorts of specialty tools. She said something around $500 bucks...

I know a lady that let all the car club buddies take dibs on her husband's stuff.
She never got paid and they sold all the stuff they promised never to sell. They did not pay her shit.
My son is 6 and loves cars, but my family will have to sell everything I have to keep on surviving. All my junk is my retirement. If I last that long and sell it as I go, we will be fine.
If I die I already know which vultures will be trying to pinch stuff for nothing.

I guess I need to work on that will.

  2. Please bury me with it!
I just don't need none of that Mad Max bullshit.

  3. I don't have a wife or kids, so i'll probably leave anything i have to my brothers kids. At least my 16 yr old nephew is into hot rods, he's the one who first showed me the HAMB.;)

  6. Whatever you do,,,make out a will...I have seen very close familys get torn apart because of of greed,,,,and things change,,,,

A friend of mine died and his exwife got everything and his girlfriend of 8 years got zilch,,,it happens.

On a funny note,,, A good friend of mine Rene' (a guy) his wife always says about him,,," The funeral will be at 10:00 AM,,,the yard sale starts at 11:00 AM,,,

I have told him,,,I ain't going to the funeral,,,I'm gonna be an early bird at the yard sale,,,:D HRP

My kid gets it all. He calls my garage his inheritance. We have the same name so he can take all the cars without a problem.

I'd want my stuff to go to my wife and kid so they could enjoy it as much as I have. In reality they would probably sell it and spend the money.

+1 I couldn't care less...I'll be 6 feet under dirt taking a very long nap.

  14. give it to the kids.

  15. When I fall out of the canoe my wife will be disposing of the Merc ASAP on eBay, and someone will get one hell of a deal. The rest will go in an estate sale on the first warm weekend following the disposal my remains.

We have wills, and living wills. Get it done. Just hoping and trusting will have you spinning in your grave. The rest, who indicate they don't care, well, that sentiment will endure and it will be your legacy.

I doubt I'll be doing much of anything with my car stuff..I'll be dead.
We're just caretakers of the junk before it becomes someone else's junk. I just hope they enjoy it.

Fortunately, my lack of personality will prevent me from producing any legitimate offspring. If things go as planned, all that will be left when I die will be receipts from all of the money I pissed away.

My will states that ALL of my cars and bikes are to be smashed, then recycled.

I am seeing two trains of thought, 1). DO NOTHING bad idea no matter how you look at it, but it's your stuff..(for now) 2). Those of you that are doing some planning...Dave Ramsey had a ad for a State will for 15 bucks...you spend more on that on valve cover gaskets, do everybody a favor...Just Do It....or is that gym shoes?????

Only one thing I will leave to any one And I have NEVER heard of anyone doing it yet... I'll be leaving my net passwords to a deserving soul..think about it folks. How many online storages have you got that only you have access too? You die..the password is lost and maybe several hundred gigs of history ,crap etc is lost. Along with ebay passwords ($$) bank account and credit card info ($$$$$$) it's all very valuable.

This subject came up Christmas of 06. I said to my grown rug rats, "you are going to have fun some day going through all my car stuff". The 25 year old daughter and 28 year old son looked at each other and said, "Ebay". The oldest daughter, 33 yrs old, got all serious and said, "no way, I want it". Suprised me big time as she has never really shown any interest. It may suprise you if you bring it up to the heirs. Maybe the grandson will get the bug and take some interest. Ebay is a good thing for the heirs to get a fair price. Make sure the heirs know how to get on your HAMB log in. Someone here would always lend a hand id'ing items.

    Same goes here.
My wife and I have no kids and do not intend to so my 41 goes to my buddy who got me into building it and the other cars are in the wifes name already. What hers is hers and whats mine is hers.

Now if we get divorced, she will get the car and she says she will sell it to my new neighbor for $1 (after she kicks me out).
Wife caught me writing this and her friend is going to get my car and make a planter out of it.
