I don't like to pussyfoot. When I need a release I work while listening to music that hits you in the fucking chest.....And for some reason I HATE the term Heavy Metal so let's call it Hard Rock - just a sample from the CD list...

    Tool
    Perfect Circle
    Pantera
    Korn
    def tones
    System of a Down
    Rage Against the Machine
    Chevelle

When I am chillin' or just feel like toning it down a notch I dig almost anything, Rock, Punk, Grunge (I hate that term too), whatever....

    Ramones
    White Stripes
    The Hives
    The Distillers
    NOFX
    The Dwarves
    George Thorogood (and the Destroyers)
    Tom Petty
    Neil Young

I also dig buying those compilation sets that have all of the oldies on them as well as the newer Rock-a-Billy type stuff. No need for the names - we've all got the MFS CDs/DVDs, right?.......

    air compressor thumpin'...
oh, and the Doors "LA Woman" is on the radio (WRLT-Nashville)

    well, you asked....

Well, if I ever get BACK to the garage to build something else, I've found that there's a few albums that kick my ass into hyperdrive and get me motivated...

"Bricks Are Heavy" by L7...like nitomethane for your MIND!

"Afterburner" by ZZ Top...'Stages' kicks it up, and 'Rough Boy' sets you on slow burn to COOK!

"Built To Perform" by Phantom Blue...like L7 on a Happy Day...solid driving rock.

"Castle Walls" by Damzel...These gals were my Sisters, from the best days of my Life.

"Cool For Cats" by Squeeze...Cockney Cool pop power...keeps you goin'!

"VOA" and "Standing Hampton" by Sammy Hagar. One of few truly gifted male vocalists ever.

"5150" By Van Halen...their best album ever, alongside Van Halen 1.

"Caught In The Act: LIVE!" by Styx. James Young is the LORD of killer tone...that fucking smoldering chainsaw break on "Snowblind"...right fucking ON!, and when Dennis muses "...we had Dreams" in a vocal pause durring "Come Sail Away"...chills, Man.

"House Of Schock" by House Of Schock. So sad that so few have ever heard this...

"Gutterboy" by Gutterboy...Streetwise New York lads with a gritty vibe. Awesome.

"Plastic Letters", "Parallel Lines" and "Autoamerican" by Blondie. CD versions with early un realesed versions of cuts like "Once Had a Love", before it evolved into the disco icon "Heart Of Glass". Early Blondie still rules all!

Every Go-Gos album, including bootlegs and imports. There'll never be another.

"The Delphines" by The Delphines...Austin rock band with bar band groove.

...and all my OLD country stuff...especially David Allan Coe...from before it was cool to like him. My aunt introduced me to him (litterally!) at a young age...there's never going to be another natural born songwriter like him...he wrote a song right on the spot while we were playing cards that rainy Summer afternoon...I was maybe eight or nine, wound up on sci-fi and superheroes...he sang something he called "Johnny Socko Superman" about it!

I n the garage nothing at present, must get back in there and get some sounds in there.....

    otherwise....

Ramones (first and formost in any list)
Stiff Little Fingers (Inflamable material is the best album ever outa Ireland)
    Mad Fab
Dub side of the moon (yup Pink Floyds dark side of the moon all f-k'd up, but really well...)
Looked at all my old vinyl last night and need to get a record player again, a heap of stuff there I should be listening too....... including Ruts.

oh and I caught a video on TV of some blond chick and Willy nelson, she seemed to be spending a whole bunch of time cleaning the General Lee in a bikini so what ever that was I'm not sure about listening but it was good to watch :)

Sadly, I'm a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan so I usually listen to Marty and Steve call their games. The local oldies station folded several years ago so I mainly stick with talk radio, WLW. I suppose I could bring a CD player out there now that I have bootlegged the full 8 CD Legends set from Time/Life.

Mutt, I thought I was the only one left with Louis Prima recording. He rules.

usually the sound of my die grinder/cutoff wheel cutting throw some old sheetmetal. or the sound of my welder slowly burning me to death one hot spark at a time  .

musicly it is often what ever is on the local rock station. i prefer the heavier stuff they play late at night. i will pop in a CD pretty regularly though and it would usually be Rage against the machine, TOOL, System of a down, Disturbed, Mudvayne, Slip Knot, Rob Zombie. occasionaly some old Ministry!!! hell yeah, i'm gonna go put on some Ministry right now!!!

  22. I seldom buy or listen to CD's anymore. Usually listen to Sirius Satellite radio. Have it in my daily driver and another receiver that's jacked into my stereo which plays in the shop through the house av distribution system. Check out Mojo Nixon's afternoon show on the Outlaw Country channel. I also listen to KPIG radio in CA over the internet...good mix of music and very few commercials.
