What are you working on this weekend?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kerry, Sep 3, 2005.

  1. Got a good start on my lakes style headers. Wish I had better fitment and decent welding, then I wouldn't have all the grinding and file time. :-( Still need to make the connection to the main exhaust. It is going to take a while at the rate I'm going but I learned a lot and the second one will go faster.

No pics, but so far fabbed up a firewall mount brake pedal and dual master cylinder and put four new wheel cylinders on my Olds. Tomarrow I will be running all new brake and fuel lines.

  4. ...I just got done hookin up the steering on my 52 F-1 Ford pickup that I installed a GM front clip and rear end in last week...I would sell this if someone was interested...I'll have pics in a day or so.

  5. Good looking headers there KerrY!

I spent the day hauling OSB for my roof, 130 sheets, and hanging joists in the Sodak 102 degree sun. Cant wait for fall.

Working on selling & trading off most of my stuff and starting to pack before we close on our house....nothing fun at ALL.

  7. I'm about 45 miles nw of Wichita. Nice and rural. I can do this, just out of practice... and whining about it. By the time I'm done I'll have the nack of it again.

Tman, everything worth working for involves some measure of pain, but you know that. I keep telling myself that as I'm filing.

    Exhaust looks cool.
I finally scored a front bumper for my shoebox today, but it was painted blue over a coat of pink? I spent the evening striping it down to bare metal. Joy.

  9. Set the point gap on my Pontiac...it runs mucho better and about 20 degrees cooler. It appears I have it sold to the guy I originally bought it from and he's throwing in a ultra base model 64 Tempest 2 door sedan....has a chevy 6 with 3 speed on the column...for now.
Imagine what it'll have for power in 5 years.....yeeeeeee haawwwwwww!
I'm thinkin a 500 caddy might find it's way in there. Maybe.

swapped carbs on the Rambler and got rid of the POS holley that was on it. I put an Edelbrock on it and it runs much better. I really dont have anything against holley carbs, but the one i had on it needs gone thru.

Working on Wife's 55 Chevy second series.
Took out 8 lug rear and swapped in a 6 lug 4.11 Posi, a while back.
Of course it takes a different rer U joint so today I swapped driveshafts with the one I got with the rear end and 3 out of 3 Ujoints were galled so I got some new Ujoints and then helped the next door neighbor trim and seal the stump of the busted off branch on his parking strip tree where the idiot Office Depot delivery van driver ripped it off and then watched the Redneck 300 at Fontana Speedway on TV and and. damn, the day flies by when you don't wake up till 9:10 AM!

I think the 235 needsa fuel pump next, It runs if I keep squirting gas in the bowl vent with a hair dye bottle.
    Need a gas prime bottle?
get a hair dye bottle from a beauty supply.
Gas hasn't melted it yet, been using the same one for a prime bottle for years.
(Is that why my beard is still gray?)

  15. Just finishing up cutting out floorpan rust and welding in new metal in my 55 Ply. Also in the boot. Just the rockers to go now.

  16. Drew a side elevation of my project T with an extra 3" added to the door.
Still in the planning stages but slowly gathering momentum.

  17. trying my hand at leading................and not hitting my feet (sandals!!), my first leading job and it's on a vertical panel (or pretty close).

  18. Cruisin'...... what sort of body you got coming? What style of T are you thinking of? I'm heading to Auckland this coming weekend to play a gig with Al Dawson at the Auckland Rock and Roll Club. Quite a few rodders turn up... Neil Roper, Dave McMahon.......

I'm working on getting up the nerve to call the guy that is storing my '31 body that it is going to be some time before it sees any love. (Effin' school) It's actually painful not to be working on it.

  22. So far I've shortend the frame horns and designed front axle spring mounts for the cheap budget mod. Removed one rear spring and now waiting for parts till noon Sunday on my trusty Dakota. (replacing rear springs)
The truck will get finished, if the right parts get here, and the mounts will be built and welded to the roadster axle.

I'm working on the "new" motor to go in my Buick, I got it all torn down on Saturday with some help from Sixcarb. Now I just have to decide what to do. It's pretty cheap for me to put the motor together myself, but I don't have a whole hell of alot of experience, and i'm on a tight budget so I can't afford to fix my mistakes. I could have the local machinist/engine builder put the engine together, but that might cost more than just buying a new long block, DECISION TIME. Here are two pics from Saturday.
