  2. I pulled everything off the top of the blower to remove the restraints, then put it all back on, got to be able to see those new valve covers lol

Been trying for years to figure out how to change the carb angles on my Austin gasser's tunnel ram. I set the engine in the frame rails low to keep the crankshaft centerline below 24", but also dropped the tailshaft on the trans to help keep driveline angles at less. The carbs have to set sideways on the old 70's Holley Pro Dominator, so I have kept the float levels lower to not flood the engine from the angles.
Wanted to put carb wedges in for years, but wedges aren't made to correct side to side, just front to rear. I have had them sitting around all that time, so today I experimented with some carb spacers to simulate a carb, and used gaskets to figure out how to modify the wedges.
I marked the wedges with a felt pen, and used my bandsaw to cut the holes out into slots that allowed them to be mounted sideways. Pulled my carbs, and put gaskets below and above the wedges turned sideways. Slid the wedges on, and remounted the carbs. Had to so some minor linkage adjustments, and reset float levels, but it worked to level the carbs!
Took it for a spin, and it doesn't run out of gas now on a long hard pull. Used to die when I shut down at the end of a 1/8th mile run.

I ran 650s sideways on the blower in my 55 for a long time, they were at quite an angle, never had any issues with it. Good to see you're happy with it now

Here’s what I’m working on. 418 stroker build. Have about 4 pounds of welding rod in the runners so they could be opened enough for head ports. Excited for this engine combo.

That’s a tough one on 37 - 39 Chebby . Should be a hole in the top of the frame rail that’s damn near dead nuts

I’ve made that same swap a few times. I know Holleys way better than I know Edelbrocks and would much rather run the Holley.

Do you need the spacers? the edelbrock heads should have a higher lip and with a thick gasket I would think the MT covers would clear especially without a girdle.

  15. I had the spacers and I didn't trim the drippers so naturally I thought the combo would work, the spacers would also make the rear breather clear the throttle linkage bracket.

I ordered a pair of Ansen spacers that are thinner around the bolt hole and edges, should be here next week. Hopefully they'll work or I'll have to remove the drippers and clearance that throttle bracket.

Still have some little stuff to finish, jumps out of reverse, but doesn’t go all the way into reverse to start with. Put hubcaps on it, finish the headlight trim rings. Etc.

  19. Looks like a cool ride and a great car for Lloydfest!

That's a pretty serious Willys! Any pictures of it from the day? Good luck with it, I know a little about getting old drag cars back to what they were. It's a lot of work but worth every minute espesially when someone comes by and says "I remember this car, I saw it race at..."

  22. Here is the injector hat on my 2x4 blower set up. I fabricated a adapter plate and a frame to fit inside it which I modified a K&N filter to reside in the frame. Made linkage, and it works great. I always wanted one and received it at Christmas. I can't afford Mechanical Injection, and this is a street car primarily now, so I don't wish to hear any flaming. 28. I jumped back over on the Henry J today, took my gas pedal out and shortened the middle of the short arm 1/4 of an inch and welded it back together.
On the previous test drive it didn't want to fully return to idle, it had a slight hangup and kept it at 1400 rpm unless you lifted it with your toe then it easily went back to idle.
All seems like it's good now, I'll see on the next test drive, also added that roll pin in the middle to keep it from sliding left/right.
