20240728_111414.jpg Started out the day with blue oval stuff, covered up accessory drive so Mark doesn't yell at me... 20240728_130118.jpg Then our tranny guy gave me this 307 that's been in storage 30 yrs..It looked clean inside and unmolested so we all had a laugh and bolted it to the run stand 20240728_143233.jpg Will probably light it off next weekend.

  5. I still haven't tried to start the goofy one that came in my 57 pickup (that was supposed to be a 350)

  6. Shoot, I’d run a 307 in a heartbeat. Maybe not the most glamorous small block, but to me it’s a decent engine.

I actually have a soft spot for them, I had one in my 71 chevelle as a kid . I put a quadrajet manifold on it with a Holley spread bore+ headers and a 4spd. I beat the snot outa that little engine and it lived.

  9. Mine was in a 69 C-20 4 speed, 4.57 axle. Like you, I beat on it pretty hard, but it wouldn’t quit. I’d rather have a 307 than a 305, but they are both decent engines.

  10. Had a friend named Jimmy Berry that ran one on the strip, bored.060, think he said it was 315 cubic inches? Was a badass back then. But hell, if you ain't making 1000hp these days you can't play in the reindeer games lol

  11. I believe ol' boy forgot the nuts on his homemade front engine mounts. LOL

It was wedged in over the axle and under the floor, took 3 hrs to get that damn thing unstuck, locked on like a coonhound on a midnight run in the woods

After spending most of the summer doing OT drag racing stuff I found a couple hours to get back to cleaning on my 62 Biscayne.

  18. Finally got around to cutting the "mailbox" off the hood of "Stubby"

I am definitely not a tall guy at 5'9" on a good day, but I could not see the right corner with it on the hood. Only time I really noticed it was a problem was at Blue Suede Cruise while cruising up the rows, I could not see the guys on their little scooters!

Funny thing is...Feels like I gained 50 HP! Those other air filters must have been absolute JUNK!

    God Bless
    Bill

  21. @Bill's Auto Works - looking good! I found K&N elements but also lost the screen in the front. There's a dude with a big block in his mid year asking how to let it breathe better than the tiny elements that just fit under the hood. Cut, I say!

I acquired a set of NOS "off road" valve springs in a package deal, wanted to use them with my NOS L79 cam but was warned not to, sold them at the Portland Swap Meet.

  24. I'ne been at it, updating my old 3W shooting for an early 60s vibe.

Recently I put together a fresh, early, power pack 283 with a Weiand 4 carb setup and dropped it into the coupe. Then it was time for new rolling stock - and added some Hurst cheater slicks, a pair of US Indy Torq Thrust rears from the stash and some ET front runners with new tires.

Now I'm dialling in the rear A spring to get the stance I want....which ain't much fun but needs to be done.

    Some pix for ya.....

I started working on my hydraulics this weekend. The wheel cylinders were rebuilt, but have been sitting so I'll be going through them. Need to clean off all the parts in a bath of citric acid. Got my brake pedal assembled to the bracket and master cylinder in and connected. Next I need to populate the backing plates and install them, then run lines. Lots to do...

  27. How stock is “stock”? I like it, it looks just like the crate engine 10067353 I bought 20 years ago. Mine is headed to my 50!

Forged flat tops, block zero decked, balanced. Pocket ported 487X heads , Howards cam 470 lift 221@.050 108 lobe sep. factory Z28 style cast iron intake. Probably going to put a massaged Q jet on it.

  29. That will run very nice!! I love the idea of a Quadrajet!
