You do realize that the more you accomplish, the less excuses you have for not being at the reunion, drinking beer with me, right? You better slow down big guy! :p

  6. Well it’s mounted. Still have plenty to do before i have functioning brakes but it’s a damn good start. I think my doctor would be pissed if he saw what i had to do to make it happen:rolleyes: 52149247-782A-4E82-BBA1-B4B7443FCA75.jpeg

  12. I rearranged the extra parts shelf a bit, still have rows of vintage rims behind the intakes and sideways rims, might have to dedicate one shelf to intakes and move things around again.

Made more progress tonight until we ran out of welding gas, upper and lower shock mounts, anti roll bar mounts and tacked frame cage mount connectors. With out any welding gas left, we had to more drink beer :D

  14. Got the new idler bracket in, looks a little shiny compared to the rest of it, that idler pulley doesn't jive so well so I found another for sale and just sent payment for it.
Guy says it may need a bearing but the price was right and a bearing is like $13 bucks.
The only thing left to collect is carb linkage and crank hub

Racks for wheels only are very handy. However, now I see that I need to dedicate a couple of shelves to intakes and carbs as they are scattered around on various shelves. Thanx for the idea to put wooden blocks under them to make them level.

  18. Got the coupe out yesterday for a shake down run. Damn , she is one bad bitch. Scared the hell out of some locals.:D;):)

  19. And you didn't bother to video it for the rest of us

  20. If you were closer I'd let you borrow for a test fit and look see, sometimes I get a wild hair and sell, sold 4 pairs of skinnies recently.

I used to have them stacked on the floor next to a stack of wood left over from changing a one bedroom apartment into usable garage space. Then the light bulb went off to use the wood to get both of them off the floor and also built cribbing for under the car.

I figure the taper would put more friction that a flat surface! I always stacked several washers up on the stud and put the nut on backwards with some of my special grease in between the washers and the nut. Worked great for me. It appears you lug nut has incurred some damage due to the taper.

Kinda hard to do when you're on a rig running heroin overdoses and fire alarms all day!

  28. It’s a bearing, the lug nut seats in the taper then turns it. Way less friction than washers

  29. I figured if it's been working for decades prior to my purchase, passed a home inspection then I'm not messing with it, been fine for a couple decades for me.
You know the old saying, if it ain't broke .... then don't mess with it.
