Technical What are you working on?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 18, 2022.

  1. When I put the 9 inch in mine I thought the stock angle was a little extreme so I put the new mounts a little more inboard.
Now of course that means a shorter shock but with the lowering springs I needed a shorter shock anyways, so now I need a shorter shorter shock. Lol

Removed all the transverse rear suspension and converted the '41 Merc to coil springs and tube shocks. Springs are Tru Coil 13"x5" 150#/in from Speedway, and mounts are generic circle track stuff with homemade brackets to mount them. Rides great! merc coil springs.jpg

  4. I worked on flattening out several punctured holes, not sure what was going on there but both sides of the bed rail. Some of them were right next to the rolled round tube on the underside making it a little tricky to get to.

No contest. It’s Spiro locks. Only time I feel like throwing a piston through the garage door.

Cab 4.jpg Cab 5.jpg Cab 6.jpg Attacking the dents in an otherwise pretty decent cab so I can get my 48 together to drive it to Victoria in July. A local rodder donated the cab to the project to get me going. He bought another cab for a yard art project and this one came with it unknown to him.

Not much going on in the garage lately, but I’m lucky enough to have a new workshop under construction. It’s going to be a great new year. FF2CB23C-D38E-4297-9178-CEAB77D40FF3.jpeg

Does an oil change and a new thermostat count? I’m lucky enough to drive my hot rods year ‘round as daily drivers.

Finishing some details on the front frame then the body will be coming off to detail the chassis; hopefully in the next week or so. The plan is to have it be a roller reassembled in the spring. We shall see.

Had that line used on me years ago. What the occasion I mentioned was, I don’t remember. But I sure recall that line.
