Technical What are you working on?

It’s been so damn cold and so much damn snow (at least for my part of the world), I haven’t done much lately to Papaw. However, the last two days have been in the upper 40’s by the time I got home, so I reinstalled the heater again, my blower motor solder repair job shorted to ground and we had to take it apart and I taught Little Truckdoctor how to solder and properly insulate your work. Today I installed switches and wired it up.

Rearranging my mess of a shop to make room for the inside winter projects. Made a sizable amount of room to get some work on this one.

I bolted that to where the original starter pedal was and it works great! I didn’t realize that was in the picture!

 

Guess what? Moon finned timing covers for SBC don’t fit Sbc’s. Now everything has to come back apart. Poop.

 

I knew a guy with a big block chevy one that had the same problem, I think he had it milled down.

Using short water pump? And will it clear?

 

I bought a cloyes instead. I don t have a way to mill it down.

 

I’ll be using a long pump, so should be good there. Got a cloyes cover instead. There is no way the moon will work. With the cam cover on it’s so far away from being seated.

 

Blaster done and tested. Very happy! Shameless plug for Tacoma Company upgrades!!

 

Put some more run time on the pontiac. Now I gotta figure out what to do with the headers because my alumacoat place closed up

Is that an intercooler between the blower and manifold?

 

Just a spacer to give more room for dist.

 

I'm still undecided on those wheels or the kidney beans but I need to get to ordering one or the other soon.

 

To spray at home cold spray Cerakote works well, not cheap tho. They have different temp ratings.

 

Fixed. Cloyes cover was thinner, everything fits like a glove now.

 

was most all the difference the flange being thicker on the other one?

 

Flanges were the same width. The moon cover was 1/4” thicker, the removable cam plate was another 1/4” and the socket head screws holding the plate on stuck out another 1/4”. The moon cover is just not made for a normal damper of any type.

 

Picked this up today for $0. Turns and looks super clean.

dug thru my parts pile for a bell, FW and starter. Matching 12v

wondered if the sm420 bell had the same hub diameter as a3speed trans. Looks good

I have 3 projects on the go. Highest priority is my '50 Ford. Some cosmetic work (in process). An electric wiper kit (done). Dual 94s (in process). I've been looking for some Ford nuts for 1/4 inch fuel line and 3/16 inch vacuum line and so far have not found any. Worst part of that is I know I bought some not that long ago and now can't find any ??


Second priority is one of my '63.5 Galaxies. A lot of different jobs needed here.

In between waiting for parts. or whatever hold ups I might have I'm working on an old Sioux valve grinder I bought at auction a few years ago. My goal with it has to be getting it to look and work as it did when new and I'm almost there. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

 

Waiting for parts to change out the timing gear that decided to go south on me in the Model A during a cruise. Fortunately I wasn’t far from home.

 

@anthony myrick That looks like a truck bell. It will have the bigger center hole. Works with t5.
