  4. I'm finishing up wiring my '29 Model A truck. Cory at Rebel Wiring has been amazing in helping me diagnose so many issues. I still have some things to sort out, but they'll have to wait until the dangerous heat wave subsides. I work as long as I can in the morning, then the garage just becomes an oven and I retreat inside for the rest of the day. My latest challenge: I pulled the distributor and used a shaft and my drill to turn the oil pump on the 351W to prime the engine but it wasn't showing any pressure on the gauge. Yes, I was spinning it counterclockwise and yes, I have the correct oil pressure sender for a gauge, not an idiot light. Next time I get out in the garage I'll do a continuity test to make sure the gauge is getting power and is wired properly. One thing that makes me think the problem isn't with the pump is that just a few seconds after starting the drill it slowed down under load, which seemed to indicate it was pumping oil. However, I hesitate to crank over the engine until there's evidence that the oil pump is providing pressure. It's a fresh rebuild (non-roller) and I don't want to ruin it if it is starving for oil.
    Any insight?

Bandit it is an illusion as the pipes are about 3/4 to 1 inch away from paint at the closes point, once I fully weld them up I will post more detailed pics. Glen 340107ba-6520-42ec-9e77-de4ab9d983dd.jpg

  8. IMG_9662.jpeg IMG_9663.jpeg IMG_9652.jpeg When we were at Bowling Green last month, I scored a set of 15x7 Aluminum Slots for $150. Someone had sandblasted them and I’m in the process of sanding them out. I don’t want polished aluminum, I’ve ridden Harley Davidsons for almost 30 years and hate maintaining it, just a smoother finish than what’s on there now. I believe these will look nice on Papaw. I also swapped the 600 Edelbrock for a Quadrajet. It runs better all over and makes that glorious Q-Jet music when I kick it in the ass.

Well made it this far on the crossmember project. Having some trouble with my tig welder I need to figure out. Seems to what to run too hot or not hot enough. Maybe the amptrol.

Does look like the amptrol has a problem. The little white gears are not secured to the shaft of the rheostat.

    Could be an interesting fix.

Spent day repairing rotted soffits on the house and then Tonight worked in some free time to slice and dice some flat stick to create curved ends for a frame to mount my grill pieces. I dissected a mercury grill to straighten and lengthen it … IMG_2577.jpeg IMG_2840.jpeg

is there a way to use only three and put a generic rheostat on it or can you buy one on ebay?

No it needs the 5 wires to work. I'll look into fixing this one first. It went together it has to come apart so should be able to fix it.

Made a start on the Nose and Deck job on my ‘51.

Kinda wanna lose the ornament but keep the hood seam trim, need to figure out a way to get a bullnose trim over to Scotland without either needing a second mortgage for the shipping or it arriving folded into a useless ball :(

Also filled in the holes where the backup lights used to be

Got the amptrol working. Guess I'll see how long it works. I used some super glue to hold the little gears in place a secured to the shaft.

    Jim,

I was having a hard time understanding the steering setup looking at your pic. So I googled a diagram of it. That's a quite interesting geometry.

    Does it handle well?

It's just like a 49 Chevy. It handles fine, compared to my old truck....
