Technical What are you working on?

Transmission leaks on the '34. Ended up taking the floor out to make it easier to work on.

 

I'm pretending to be a body man. I'm doing body work on my 49 Dodge truck.

I hate body work.... fortunately, its almost done (as far as I'm concerned).
I start out great with every intent on getting it as straight as possible, then after a couple months, the concern of straight goes right out the window, and I shoot for mostly smooth. Its almost smooth...

For a half a second, I thought you dug a grease pit!
Oh... the car floor. Got it.

Give time time. In time you wear the memories with comfort.
That is a ways off yet.

Sorry for your loss. I know how tough it is.... I lost my Dad when I was 21 (52 years ago on the 6th of this month), and it took me a loooong time to "get over it", which honestly, I've never really been able to accomplish. But hang in there... The loss really hurts, but the good memories and stories eventually ease the pain and replace it with smiles and appreciation for the time you DID get to spend with him. Every time I am doing something he taught me, or remember one of his sayings, or drive by one of his fishing holes, or use one of his tools.... I think of him and it brings a smile. I have found that , without realizing it, I've been relying on him for guidance even after his death. If I stop and ask myself "WWDD (What Would Dad Do)?", I usually get things figured out, whether it's how to solve a mechanical problem, moral issue, or life problem.
It's painful to lose a loved one, but we honor them most when we follow their example in our own lives.
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to grieve in whatever manner works for you.... there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way, whatever it takes...... I wish you good luck in the recovery from your loss.

Well let’s see now, you’ll need a Lincoln flathead, 39 Ford rear end w/zephyr gears, four speed transmission, dry lakes inspired exhaust, Big and little wide whites, moon gas tank and a Winfield fade paint job.

 

Finally getting around to the rewire/12 volt conversion on the '54 Ranch Wagon. Did I say, "I hate wiring?" Hopefully be done in a couple of days and then the big test to see if any smoke gets out.

 

Haven't posted a picture of this 39 since I got paint on it, it's still in the sand and buff and break your back stages.... today is kinda boring, trip to the paint store, and getting ready to spray paint on a late model car. Not near as fun as working on hot rods, but the money is good once that's sprayed I've gotta put fenders on a square body that i cut in Saturday. Busy busy busy!

Moving forward slowly on this, it’s been 100+ lately. I want to do the brake lines while it’s up on the rotisserie and I’m putting bits and pieces on in an attempt to identify any nuts and bolts I still need to buy. The chrome Hurst mounts, early Ford backing plates and hairpin steering arm puts a smile on my face as soon as I walk into the shop….

 

I've got a Rebel wiring kit and I've only had to call their tech support a couple of times. Really good and understanding real person on the phone. I know there are other kits out there but this is the second time I've used one of there kits. Can't say enough good things about the product or the people.
