We were working on the door bars for my V8 Corvair. It was almost time to leave…..had a bright idea, let’s put the rpu body on the frame just to see how it all fits together. It covers the jag rear so no one can complain. I think it looks great at this point IMG_7002.jpeg

Under my 40 giving it a grease job.( man these have about 50 fittings) and noticed the rear brake hose was cracked. So I ordered one and went to replace it. The way it is threaded into the junction block above the wishbone makes it difficult to get a wrench on it. So I cut it off so I could use a box end wrench… tink.. broke the fitting off the junction block. Ordered one and replace it also. Hindsight tells me I should have unbolted the junction block and unscrewed the brake lines and put it in the vice and use a little heat to loosen the hose…. Oh well back together and everything is great IMG_7739.jpeg

Working on our 33-34 Ford frame. Bending the front part, it's 4" kickup and I think we will stretch the wheelbase to 125" for racing. Left side done, right side tomorrow evening.

Back on my upholstery job. I will finish the backrest today and take another stab at the cover for the bottom cushion. It looks just okay, but I think I can do better.

Making progress, pretty happy considering I’m a spanner monkey that’s never really done much sheet metal work before.

Brought the wide whites out of the shed, put ‘em on, charged up the battery and was tidying it up for the first show and shine of the season (funny enough it’s called the Spring Thaw). Usually walking around with a coffee and catching up with dudes you don’t see all winter. Good times.
That was yesterday….today I’m back on shovel duty. Good news is that it will all melt in the next 48 hours. Then I’ll put the hubcaps on and fire it up.
Living this close to the Rockies is awesome.

  17. I'm working on a list of things to look for at the May 1 swap meet in Lawrence, KS, waiting for a friend to cut and install gl*** for my '29 Model AA and staying alert for the next round of tornado weather. Monday an F-2 slammed Hillsdale, KS, only about 10 miles west of us. If it had stayed on the ground it would have clobbered us. More forecast for Friday. I'll do what I can to keep it from heading your way. As usual, whatever you're cooking up makes me salivate.

The weather has been on high alert around here also. Us being on the upper hills of the east side of the river seems to make the really bad stuff tend to split just before it get to my place. Must be why the roads name is Mt Pleasant :)

Getting there, some small pieces still to make then il try not to ruin it with filler, sealer and paint!
Ended up having to pretty much remove and remake the inner and outer rocker for this door section all from flat sheet.

IMG_5254.jpeg I removed and repainted my headers this morning. Degreased the engine, and touched up the Chevy Orange paint. It looks great from about 50 feet away.

Just got off the phone with Mac VanPelt. If USPS is still in business, the transmission in the '48 should have a whole bunch of new internals very soon. Turns out that my non-shifting ****** problem was with the broken Long-style 11" pressure plate. I had a 10-inch flywheel resurfaced and got a new clutch/PP combo from Felton's in Chattanooga. The 1/16th -inch wear on the driver's side of the clutch fork cross shaft didn't help either. Didn't wear through the bushing, just the shaft. Kind of weird. 20260420_111309.jpg

  30. Putting the finishing touches (finally) on this 341 Desoto for my 3W....been a long time coming but hey we all know how it goes. Ported heads, hyd roller, Peter Williamson 2x4, with a 5 speed going behind it. Tried using some red flake on it, came up a treat.

    Should be fun ;)
