Taped it up with full sun light upon it. Now I gotta wait for surface temp to come down a bit so I can paint it. IMG_6251.jpeg

Looks good Alan. Personally I have never bothered with adding insulation to the kick panel area in any of my cars. That area just doesn't seem to get very hot.

Im trying to determine how to measure and bend a simple roll bar behind the seats of the Tiger . Sounds simple , but I will bet I will destroy 3 lengths of tubing before I call it good to go

That stuff is a black art. Start with a center line then adjust the second bend.

Small tubing is your friend. So is aluminum tig wire, the bigger stuff. Take a 1/4 or 5/16 fuel/brake line and bend it on the bender you'll use for the roll bar. That's your inner radius you can use to mark the tube at the shoe of the bender. Big aluminum tig wire is nice because it'd be easy to re-use for the next bend. Try to see the promised land in straight lines 1st, deduct for the radii, start bending. Best I got for now, if I can help or coach in any way don't hesitate. We'll speak of notches as well. A straight cut and quick touch up with a grinder makes a perfect notch. Tube is already round.

The first one I did...I made a full size pattern from some old thin wood panel, and held it on the bender to see where everything would end up. Mark where the tube is on the bender for the first bend, so you can see where the bend ends up being.

Masonite (1/4") works great for patterns!

Still need that first bent to pull a pattern and reference point.

That is the way I learned. Put a center mark on the tube measure over to start your first bend. Then now you have a reference point to know how much you gain from the bend. I do all the measuring from the center of the tube.

I had Art Morrison bend some custom 2x3 rails for the "back half" I built for my Nova.
I made a Masonite pattern that I painstakingly fit to the contours of the rear floorpan, it turned out perfect but as a friend that is a car builder says "looks easy"!
Good outcomes require good attention to detail.

Not roll cage scale but same concept. Don’t have solid wire pattern pic but this is the one try result. You can see reference markings. IMG_6229.jpeg

I have lots count of how many times I made the bend on the wrong side of the mark.

That sux du'nit? I always like the challenge of custom bars. A bracket racer 8pt is cake. Custom F/C cage in moly from scratch in a door car, those were fun. Built abuse cages for the OEMs to test product. Just because, we painted em in the interior colors as we went. Gray, tan, little **** like that is fun too.

I tell what really ****s is when you’ve made 2 or 3 bends on a piece perfectly then the final bend is 180* out

Finished up the TIG welding on the headers and downpipes. I hit it with some polishing compound since everything is stainless steel. Also hit the hot pipe / exhaust on the p***enger side. IMG_7197.jpeg
