Still nothing on my stuff although I was in the shop working on kids vehicles quite a bit over the last few days. I am however heading to NM today and will be hauling my 331 Cadillac motor back with me for my 40 Merc project.

  5. Did you bypass the resistor wire and make sure you were providing 12 volts to the electronics? I think I read somewhere that the electronic stuff needs more volts to work correctly…

Years ago I built a paint room on the side of the garage i had then, put #8 gravel on the floor. I could hose it down and get the cleanest paint work I've ever had!

There is something to say about a cave and pave job, it doesn't make the car/truck any worst as apposed to someone that did a crappy job of welding in patches and warping the crap out of the panel they were trying to fix.

  13. Well that’s an upside I suppose…one day maybe I’ll have concrete!

While I’m not really being super picky about the metal work, at least the rust is fixed, I’m ok with filler. Did I mention I’m painting it white?:D

Yes, we did everything by the book, still think the unit wasn't putting out full power. But it runs great now, with the points back in. Lesson learned.

  16. 0706231651.jpg 0706231651a.jpg My model A drivers door is now officially Cancer free that was my afternoon project (7/6/23)
I am enjoying working on my 31 model A pickup but the rust repair is starting to become a bit monotonous. Tomorrow unfortunately I work all day but Saturday I intend to attack the passenger's door I would imagine there's a good 6 to 8 hours worth of metal work just to get rid of the cancer. I am not a body man nor do I have fancy tools just a basic Hobart fluxcore welder (I really need to buy the gas bottle). I am trying to keep as much of the original Model A as possible and not buy overpriced patch panels that don't fit real well anyways.
The bottom of the door is going to be a bit of a challenge for my lack of skills but you can't learn unless you try.
Here is a couple of photos of the driver's door. I wish I would have taken a before picture, I am pretty happy with it so far considering I don't know what I'm doing lol.

KIMG0335.JPG Burnt out on wiring so I did a little mocking up for inspiration. I threw on a fender and clamped on a box side to get the gears turning. F3 boxes typically look "heavy" to my eye due to being taller compared to an F1. I think I'm going to drop this box down to line up with the door handle, seems to flow a little better, less "truck like"

After Hemi-Dav posted a photo of Ford Y-blocks on a finish assembly line I spotted the end engine was bound for a Thunderbird but it had black steel rocker covers with a decal never seen on a passenger car. I found a supplier who listed them but none on hand. A set showed up last week and I had the rocker covers I had powder coated black. So my Victoria received a new look. I can’t resist not having something different. IMG_5806.jpeg IMG_5805.jpeg

  21. Nice and clean. What's it going in?
By the way, I got that AOD in the frame now, but have lots of plumbing (fuel line, trans fluid line, coolant, etc.) to grind through before I connect the 351W to it and give them a startup. That will be delayed somewhat. Aussie had to have hernia surgery last week $$$$! My mistake, told him to fetch the engine block.

  29. Little Truckdoctor and I spent the day working on an O/T F-100. It’s getting new tires, complete A/C system replacement, rear brakes and some other odds and ends. I built this truck for my Dad, but we lost him last October and Little Truckdoctor has inherited it and will drive it when he turns 16 in three short years (where the hell did the time go??? He was just born!!!). He is learning about A/C and drum brakes on this project.
