    My friend and ex-tenant Phil wanted a hot rod. He has a significant stash of old Ford parts, flathead, banger, V8 60, plus parts for a chassis. When he found an old chopped, ‘29 sedan body, he decided to try to put some of his stuff in one big pile and drive it. I took his Model A frame up north and paralleled the rear of the rails, gave it a 10” kick up, boxed it, added his 40 rear end with PSI radius rods and an old chrome front end he had and brought it back.
    He pulled out his supposedly runnable ‘41 flathead and we found a huge score in one cylinder and rust in another. So I took it up to my NorCal home and with the help of my local machine shop we rebuilt it with a Merc crank, Scat rods, NOS Potvin cam, etc, and brought it back down to SoCal. He originally wanted to make everything look like a garage find but he started adding a bunch of new stuff when his vintage Edelbrock heads were junk, so it’ll be dark gray primer instead of the funky rust/patina. The body was chopped nicely many many years ago and I’ll channel it the width of the frame. It’ll have big n littles on wide five wheels.
    That’s the story in a nutshell. Progress is slow but steady, but I get to work on a hot rod even when I’m on “vacation”.

    I got the blower overhauled on Plan II, a fellow in Tucson did it. Back on and running again, it don't rattle so much now.

    Also finally added that fuel pump primer switch I've been dreaming of for years.

    And put my new tag on the Corvette. I wonder if anyone will "get it"?

    I went to Bisbee, stopped for a picture, and Jay was home. I showed him the car, he'd never seen it...

    Then when I got back, I was looking things over, heard a little hissing sound. Uh oh.

    radiator1.jpg

    so now I'm shopping for a radiator. They don't seem to make this particular one any more, so I'll probably have to adapt something else. More work.

    Mr @squirrel -How many miles did your blower have on it? Curious about longevity. Bummer about your radiator. Had one fixed like that 2 years ago. now seeping again.

    Mr. Jim, would you by chance have a part # for those air filters? Just what I'm looking for...Hate those damn purple filters that come with V stacks.
    Thanks

    The blower has a lot of miles on it, they generally go roughly 50k between overhauls, more or less. I've put something like 130k on this one, it's been gone through a few times.

    The housings are repop 427 Cobra Stellings & Hellings, with Wix 42040 filter elements, which are not quite the right size--a bit too small diameter, but it's all I could find. I didn't want to run the short foam things that came in them.

    No. And getting one to fix a tube to header leak on an aluminum radiator...figure the odds of that happening....

    I swear by the speedway universal radiators. Also had good luck with the southwest speed. Order by size. Now, let the beatings begin lol

    @squirrel
    I took my family to dinner in the 442 last Sunday, same thing happened, got home and a trail of green coolant told the tale. I went on Summitt Racing and they had their own brand aluminum radiator on my doorstep the next day. Fit like a charm. $335 delivered. You might try them.

    I found one on ebay that should fit, I'll have to make new mounts for it. The old one had mounting holes in the tanks, and I built the support to work with them. All the replacements I've found don't have them, they require making saddles to support the headers, or something similar. I also found one that's a bit wider, hopefully a little more cooling capacity.
