Looking at the quarter window angle, it's a '68 or _69

No 10mm sockets were harmed during this project, because there is none used! And, that's where I seem to keep my tools lately - on the floor. Was tearing a Nailhead down, right next to this, and that's why the torch - removing broken bolts, and the tools laying around.

Well, I think I posted Thursday I was going to “throw this together”. Well, it took 2 nights of my spare time, and this AM. Now to run out and buy some media to use in it. IMG_0159.jpeg

A dollop of it on the underside of the tool your co-worker is about to grab was always a hoot.

1947 Ford Panel kingpins. Anticipated them to be tough, but not this bad, being they were so sloppy.

Also looks like I need to work on cleaning stuff up in the shop.

I have been getting ready for old age and have been converting are pantry into a laundry closet so we won't have to use the stairs to do laundry, and it opens up a wall in my basement so now I can relocate my tool box in a more out of the way place. :)

Checking the truck for cooling system integrity. To see if there was some reason other than neglect for the black coolant. No yellow, no bubbles, so I guess it's ok.

    coolant test.jpg

I got the brakes working, and the fuel system working, it has a new plate and insurance, so time for a longer test drive...all the way to Bisbee. With some flushing stuff in the cooling system.

Working on a 1959 Vauxhall, Victor.
Been turned into a street legal drag racer by the previous owner, many years ago.
Currently going through some necessary upkeep changes/fixes and some "performance" upgrades.

Looking to make it into a 9 second street car !?

Sorry, can't post any photos yet, per the HAMB rules makers. That's one of my...changes, a different (more HAMB friendly) set of wheels.

The odometer on the 56 had stopped working, I removed the speedometer and removed the bezel so I could take it apart, there was some misalignment in the odometer so I carefully adjusted one of its supports and it is working again, just have to put it back in the car

I parked the 35 Chevy and 46 Olds up as I'm off travelling again through the USA for a few months in early 2024. I crammed in quite a few small but time consuming things in before I pulled the covers over both cars.
    409637961_1679305312593345_3760840752546264557_n.jpg
Finally fitted all new side glass into Olds with new window run channels, 1/4 glass seals, verticals, window fuzzies etc. Accidentally broke a 1/4 glass in the process and was fortunate to have a replacement cut locally within days. I had to replace all the side window sash channels as they were rusted. I then ran out of semi-tubular rivets for 1/4 glass pivot installation and had to wait a few days but eventually managed to track them down. These are hollow and are peened over to clear setting rubber allowing glass to slide into vent frame without interference. I'll use these to also hold the OEM garnish mold clips to window run channels.
Fitting the rear roll up windows was a PITA, each taking 3hrs to install! Workshop manual indicates it's a quick job, Wrong! No shortcuts here as new window roller bushings I had fabricated need to precisely fit into frame mechanism, no adjustment whatsoever! Nothing else GM or other was even close however the lift springs are identical to 46 Chevy so I replaced them as well as the lock springs as well. 338425060_1273749779897949_6670670015948690767_n.jpg

    Door lock.JPG
Also replaced fuzzies on all side garnish molds. Hopefully I won't have any noise from rattling glass or wind with all new seals etc.
Also installed my NOS S/S vent shades as well and fitted all the side window stainless. Doors still require adjustment. I'll do this and install door locks etc. NOS S/S fender gravel shields are next to be installed,

    406418457_1131307334516187_3512812125117216961_n.jpg
I kept all the old window run channels, fuzzies etc as templates when cutting, bending new channels.

    PICTURE #3 FOR MARK TAYLOR.jpg
I had some powder coated steel wheels made by Wheelsmith with my NOS hubcaps modified to fit. The S/S wheel trims from Wheelsmith should work out for that OEM look. I just need some new tyres now.
    Wheels.png
I dropped the front fenders, hood, door caps, boot scraper spears, gravel shields (F&R) and miscellaneous other parts off to painter so everything can be finally painted and be ready for final body assembly when I return home. As the car has a 125"WB, front and rear bars won't be fitted due to space restrictions in shed.

  19. Still farting around with the wiring on the 41, right after I wired in those dash lights I was complaining about costing $50 bucks for 4, I found the missing lights.

    20231218_152732.jpg 20231218_160536.jpg

I can't find the bracket that holds a light behind the dash that shines out of that slot above the 4 holes, so making a bracket is next on the list.

    20231218_163558.jpg

While looking for outside Christmas lights in the basement, that I couldn't find, I did find a missing box of die-cast I packed up 21 years ago before the move into this house.

I bought the NYT games online so could game but I wouldn't have to read the dribble they print in the paper. I like the Friday and Saturday; my wife likes the rest. I have done 1994 thru 1997 and current date back to 2017. I am an addict. For those that enjoy a good cerebral work out, old puzzles will make you think on several plains. For example, a 1997 puzzle the other day asked for a Seattle pro team, it was Sonics. They haven't been there since 2006. Yeah, fun times.

The HAMB should have a daily traditional crossword puzzle. Hmmm. DIZZY, CARBY, RIMS, TAPPET...Could be fun.

  26. Billy I have car related ones at work somewhere, someone thought maybe for students, more stock mechanical stuff related I believe, after the holidays I’ll try to remember to find them.

So, I was going to put the instrument panel back in the 56 but I couldn’t do it, the upholstery material had shrunk and cracked and it looked shabby
    0630228A-9F62-465A-9D37-AF1EE2BE7EED.jpeg

So, I took it back apart and removed the white vinyl

See those aluminum grommets they used for the blinker and high beam indicators? I tried to remove them without ruining them but they were rivet peened on the back and I tried to straighten and remove em but they got bent up. I ended up removing the mandrels from som 3/16 pop rivets and drilled them out to match what was there

I cut out and contact glued on some new white vinyl material

I then riveted the new grommets

I'm so pleased with this, I wanted to share it.

Header in Model A Coupe Clearing Steering Box.jpg

A pal built an off-set header that resembles the 1960s Hedman on the other side. This clears my steering box and allows access to the spark plugs, mounting holes and such.
