If it were a Camaro rear it would have the mounting for the torque arm, eh?

Laugh if ya want but this cam has all its lobes.
Lifters labeled to match each lobe.
Grabbed the head, another carb, and brackets. Mine had the wrong alt pulley. We good now.
It’s not a hot rod engine.

Working on steering for my model A. Steering angle and header size are making it more difficult than I thought. Am thinking of running two double joints to get proper angle. Single joint on bottom has a bit of a bind. IMG_1318.jpeg

Make sure they are phased also....double joints dont require a support i think...

Yes, I agree about the phasing of the joints. I do think that a support is required for it as there will be 4 joints in play. I already have the guide bushing to use.

With this cold spell I've been playing in the barn and feeding its wood stove.Got all the wood cut to the proper lengths, now can see where holes need to be.

That would make sense because it would backfire out the intake like a big dog:confused:

  15. The advance on the distributor was un hooked. New points…..new wire to coil.
Bet they were chasing down what they thought was an ignition issue.

Back in the 80s customers would come in with late 70s sbc's backfiring through the intake thinking they needed a tune up. They weren't real pleased with the flat cam diagnosis:rolleyes:

20240127_182728.jpg 20240127_182739.jpg Started polishing these old edelbrock covers. They were on the 301 in the vette when I got it. I think they were installed in the early 70s and never run on the engine. I picked up some moon breathers to run on em.

Think I have a new old stock set of 6 cylinder GM lifters if you need.

Playing with the cruise control on the Corvette, it's been having a pulsing pedal, quick surging. I redid the cable mount at the carb, made a less flexible bracket. I'm going on little drive to Tucson tomorrow, I'll see if that helped.

  22. I’d hate to waste NOS parts on this old beater :)

Worked on loading up a 53 Chevy today that my son bought. Pretty decent car that was parked 20 years ago to fix a transmission oil leak that ended up being the dipstick. Car never got put back together.

I'd want more than 2 strips of masking tape holding the hood down before I'd drive it though!

LOL! Those are actually ratchet straps but they do look like masking tape now that you mention it.

  27. Spent a lot of time cruising in a friend's '53 four door Belair in '67 and '68. There's also a four door '53 on my way to our rural school where I substitute frequently. I see it twice a day and each time it jars a pleasant memory. Sure like what you got. Nice score!
