Technical What are you working on?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 18, 2022.

  1. I got my push/pull handle shortened (3 inches) and bracket made, painted and mounted to hold the disconnect switch.
I decided to have the handle even with the bumper in the on position, might change the T-handle part to red or might not.

Also gave it a lift since I need to get under it to run the new wiring harness and brake work eventually.

In truth getting an EKG done so I can have rotary cuff surgery on Tuesday. Car stuff probably won't happen to any degree until July.

I have had both shoulders done, one at a time. :D 6 weeks in a sling, but both turned out perfect, and I can work overhead with no issues or pain. Hope yours turns out just as good. Brian

Made a custom push bumper so I can get this slug into the shop and tend to the laundry list of stuff I need to get busy on. I don't like hills...

  8. Yea, the paint isn’t the issue. It is the crappy bondo job covering up rusted rear quarters.

Anyway, we did get it in the shop and pulled all the parts out of the interior. Seems it came with a few 54 trim pieces like a couple sets of headlight bezels, etc. in addition to parts that were actually off this car.

  9. I’m building a beater with crappy bindo work.
    we ain’t bothered by it
It will look great dropped in the dirt

I bought a set of DSS forged flat tops with 2 valve reliefs, compression works out to 10.25 I'm still on the fence with the cam , may use a copy of the 7140 off road #1 cam or do a streetable solid roller....The parts came with an NOS LT1 cam but I want something a little bigger.

Went over to the body shop and mocked up the radiator and hood for tweaking before priming IMG_6741.jpeg IMG_6743.jpeg

The outside temps got to nearly 50 on this 4th day in Feb in the north west corner of IL. The roads are clear and dry, the sun was shining. I filled up the truck with gas (it is down to $3.05 per gallon today) and we did a 120 mile Ice Cream run this afternoon! The Ice Cream place in that town 60 miles away (same chain store we have here in town) was the excuse to do the 120 mile cruise.

It was a great way to spend the day. Sorry, nothing great to see, so no pictures.

Dropped off the rotating assembly + the heads and new valves at the machine shop today. Now I gotta figure out an intake set up....

  16. LT-1 intake or Performer RPM and a 3310 Holley?

Trying to be period correct ... even though it would be after 1965... I dont want to pay $700 for a Z28 intake although I could rob the one off my truck. Resisting the urge to install the intake that the name must not be spoken here ;)

    That’s what she said

  27. Scattered all the parts from inside the 53 on the floor to sort stuff out. We also swapped to a different set of rollers. Need to bolt the front clip back on and start making it back into a car.

Trying to get brakes install on the front of an O/T ramp bed truck. Two trips to the capital city and still need to make another trip tomorrow to get all the correct parts.
