I worked on luxuries lol, stuck a hose on for my brake booster, put my power steering hose on, vacuum lines for the modulator valve and spark advance. Most of the day was customer cars.

I finished up the pruned case 4-71 that I was working on.

This is a combination of vintage, new-old-stock, and new parts. I tried to get the finishes to match as close as I could. When the snout and tensioner are selected, I will apply the same finish techniques.

Worked on the rear brakes on my slightly OT car yesterday after I noticed that the right rear wheel cylinder was leaking. I found lots of stuff that needed replaced once I pulled the drum. So…looks like it will sit on the lift waiting on parts I had to order while I am in Ohio this week for work. I’m not the worlds best at maintenance, but seems my buddy that I bought this car back from did zero maintenance while he owned it the last 9 years. I just need to go through most everything before trying to drive it up to Springfield, MO for the SWMO Hot Rod Hundred coming up in just a few weeks.

it was a 65 375hp short block that I bought on CL about 10 years ago. the guy advertised it as a 283. it was a CE engine that had about 5000 miles on it but it had freeze cracks on both decks. I paid 100 bucks for it and kept it until about 2 years ago when I sold the pistons and rods. I scrapped the block but still have the beautiful std small journal crank. sorry no pictures..... I would sell the crank though

I see them on eBay on the regular.

Push the pieces together and get a measurement on the overall length.

That will make it easier to match it.

Finally back on the front suspension of my '48 F1 Panel after locating an elusive driver's side spindle arm. However, took a detour yesterday with the help of my son-in-law to track down an electrical issue that was keeping my roadster parked. I hate electrical - it's magic.

I see you are slowly creeping up on that ugly steering wheel:p

PThe 318 and 319 share a lot of parts. The case has an extra hole for the reverse lockout and the main shaft is cut different
    319 shaft
    IMG_7327.jpeg
318 shaft. IMG_7328.jpeg lengths look the same. Splines look longer for the 319 plus the c-clip groove
I’ve got an extra 318. Wonder if my machine shop guy can lengthen the spline assuming the diameter is the same ?
These other pieces were in the stash of spare parts.

I am seeing some listed as 318 with overdrive, that have the clip groove. I wonder if that would work.

  29. I got my 41 fired up yesterday for a short run, between it being pig rich and a coolent leak it ran me out of the garage.
Today I investigated the leak and it's the cap on the new remote filler neck, doesn't seem to remain tight in the full twist on setting, but is tight at about an 1/8th turn, 3 different caps did the same thing.
Looks like a few complaints on Summit's question and answer review section, I did order a different cap that someone else said works.
I was only off by 2 degrees retarded on my timing so added that in and it cleaned up the rich idle a tiny bit. I fought with these carbs for a couple months in the past and finally threw in the towel and put my old carbs back on. I'm going to have to breakdown and drill and tap these metering blocks to put adjustable bleeds in to reduce some of the fuel, I was hoping the new bigger blower and fresh gaskets would clear them up a bit.
