Ah, I read that wrong. I have met quite a few of the old timers around here. I just wish they had more time to help teach us younger folk their knowledge.
Thats where sharing their work by us photoing it can help us all plus its great to see all their neat old stuff being use in a traditional way.
Yeah gotta admit im one of them old *******s just wondering why one of them young toerags dont come round and help me post my pics
Ha ha , I don't know if I am a young toerag, but as you emailed me some pics here's some of yours , you can explain them to the troops. The motor pics are a bit small but I'll post them anyways .
The RP i have driven for 40 odd years and is currently undergoing modernization with a Rutherford overhead a pair of Windfields a quick change and overdrive. The T motor and roadster are a current project for a bit of fun.
I know a few old timers that stay off the computer (cause they don't know how). They all build their cars pretty quick. One of them is building two 29' model a's this winter. One is a street rod, chopped and channeled and the other is stock.
going to Jacksonville, Fl and to Ashville, NC to pickup 2 1951 F1 trucks to haul back to central florida. all the while trying to not miss any naps....jack
I'm glad this thread got started. There's a lot of nice work in that RPU. And Porkand******'s suggestion is thought-provoking. I guess if you're 60 then a 40yo gal is practically ********...
I just turned 69 and put my other projects on hold to build a O/T car to piss off the local Ford guys. I bought a '89 Mustang LX hatchback and put a 400SBC with a T56 in it. I bought the tubular K-member and strut front end stuff and a '04 8.8 rear end then put big brakes on it. The hardest thing was getting the Chevy hydrailic clutch linkage to work. I had to get rid of the brake booster and convert to manual brakes to make room for the clutch master cylinder and linkage. There is a Fun Ford weekend coming up and I plan on having some fun. My wife p***ed away three years ago and I checked out some of the older local talent and all I found was a bunch of old, angry women looking for someone to pay thier bills and buy them some new teeth.
Most days I spend at least part of the day, cranking away on my '36 Ford 3-window build. I've been wanting to build one nearly all my life and I FINALLY have the time and the bread to do it. I just hope my health holds out until it's finished and I get to take a few trips in it - of course the old saw, "Man plans, God laughs" is always a possibility. OK, back to work and spend the kid's inheritance!
the 88 year old guy who lives down the road from my house is building a 70s styled drag car from a gremlin powered by a hemi.
At 65 (6 years ago) I jumped on my 23 year old Goldwing & rode solo from FL to CA & back. Would like to do 66 in my 56 next.
Really glad to hear this being I'm 56 and feel like 76, I will be looking forward to the turn around.
Rusty, Gonk had told me you had some cool Ts, and you had told me about your engines, but its great to see pics. Very cool, and i hope to see them in the flesh one day. As to oldtimers over this side of the island, id be to scared to ask the one i can think of, he still punches people who anoy him.
