So I have decided that my old 29 coupe just needs a new at***ude. I already have a reversed eye spring in front and it dropped it nice but that was 5 years ago and I just want more from her. I have a T rear spring in the waiting as well.

I was going through my pile of junk and found some 32-34 spindles. My buddy Aaron has some 32-34 spring perches and I was wondering what axle I need to combine these parts with my stock A brakes and wishbone. I did a search but all I could find was mechanical brakes on dropped axles. I know there is a thread about using a stock ford axle but I can't find it. Does just a 32-34 axle work?

I want it to go atleast another inch down.

Use a 32-36 axle, it has more drop stock than a model A. I think 1 1/2 inches. you need 1/4 inch spacers for the perch difference with the bones.

Thanks Matt, do the 32-36 axles accept an A wishbone? Is the distance the same?

They are very close. My 36 axle wishbone holes were maybe a 1/4 wider than my model a axle and wishbone. I just put one perch pin in and pulled the other side of the wishbone over by hand dropped the other perch pin in. The biggest difference is the thickness in the perch boss area which is easily taken up with a thick tooling washer.

Thats what the 1/4 inch spacer/washer is for. A bones are 2 1/4 inches. 32-36 are 2 inches.

Thanks guys, are there any other parts I need to swap my A brakes over? Can I reuse the A cross shafts/brake actuators? Will my A backing plates bolt up the the spindles with no mods?

A brakes bolt right up. You'll want to use the A actuators, as the 32-34 actuators are angled. You also must use A kingpins with A actuators...32-34 kingpins have an offset 'cup' for the angled actuators).

So if you're running A brakes, here's what you'll need

    -32-36 axle
    -32-34 perch pins
    -32-34 spindles
    -A actuators
    -A kingpins
    -A backing plates, drums
    -A wishbone (with 1/4" spacer)

One last item is your spring; if you use a 32-34 spring & shackles, you're good to go. If you use an A spring & shackles, you'll need to fab a spacer to go into the 32-34 perch pins to adapt the A spring/shackle. A piece of 3/4" OD pipe with an ID of 9/16 is what you'll need.

Perfect! Thanks for the list. How much is this going to further drop the front. I am going to retain my reversed eye A front spring.

    Drop gained from 32-36 axle - 1 3/4"
Drop from reverse eye spring - 1"

You can also remove a few leaves to get another inch or so.

That with the T rear spring should get her sitting down nicely. I have been very hesitant of touching this car because she was so perfect but this should help me want to do more.
