A 56-57 Chevy Apache pickup that could really take the punishment from a South Dakota 13 year old.

In 1961 my Mom's 1959 Old 98 Convt, took my drivers test in it.

Was the size of an Aircraft Carrier.

After reading through about 10 pages, I think I win the absolute worst learning-to-drive story:

2006 Toyota Sienna, in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

I learned to drive in this 40 Plymouth sedan at thirteen. My mom was a diabetic and i had to learn to drive it, in case of an emergency, luckily i never had to take her.

1964 Fairlane 2 door post was my first car...

I guess I learned to drive in an 87 Subaru Brat though.

For me it was a 1937 LaSalle Opera Coupe and then spent the rest of my weekend in my bedroom.

My dads 1977 Chevrolet truck, black with baby moons. One day we were in my moms Nova and dad sees a black truck like his doing a HUGE smoky burnout a few blocks from our house. He looks at me and says, "I hope my truck runs like that!" (He had just bought it) and we get closer and we see it is my older brother in dads truck! My older brother was pretty scarce for a few days after that.

My gramps' '66 Dodge 3/4 ton, 318 polysphere/auto stick on the dash, up on one of the farms, turned into a 32 acre field in the spring at 11, and turned me loose. The next week, it was the '53 Chebbie 1-1/2 ton farm dump, another week and into a '56 IH S160 for my 2-spd rear training. By harvest time it was a Loadstar 1800 10-whl dump with a 5x4 setup, left arm through the wheel split shifting. Little tractors at first, IH 340, Ford 8N, JD 420, then the 706 Diesels. Had to know how to maintain and repair each one before I got to drive

51 chevy, stock drivetrain, NO front coils or bump stops, only had about 3 inches of clearance to the front crossmember. Was a blast to drive.

Dad's '63 Austin Cambridge in the backyard (1.6 4 cylinder, fourspeed floor shift, no brakes), then the driving school '63 Chev II with dual steering wheels and auto trans, finally Dad's '70 E200 Econoline window-van 302 v-8, automatic. The van had the best forward vision of them all and the most power.
