Yeah, what he said. Can't relate to any of the above shows. I do occasionally watch AHR and Build or Bust. I don't remember the name, but I did like a show on Speed with the British guy showing the history of a particular make of sports car (saw the episodes on Alfa Romeo and Jaguar: both very good). Really liked the Monster Garage with Gene Winfield & co, but generally speaking, it ****s too.
Mike, that's "Top Gear" and I'm hooked. Doesn't seem to be on at the moment though. They're absolutely hilarious, drive everything from DieselTuaregs (sp.?) to exotics, and most of them balls to the walls. Yeah, there aren't any hot rods but cool cars come in many flavors.
It used to be the only show worth watching on tv back home, the shows we are getting here are about a year old now!! Jeremy Clarkson (the tall ****y looking one) is funny as hell, I watched him destroy a Lamborghini clutch at the Goodwood Festival of Speed several years back, was going to do a run up the course, revved the thing to about 8000 rpm and sidestepped the pedal.....it want BANG quite spectacularly!
Damn expensive...I was approached by some cable ad guys out here ...they were selling spots at about $5 for 30 sec. ad (I think 7 or 8 for prime time) seemed real reasonable...that was with comcast and it was pretty much each small area ...still cheap!
Tuesday nights at the Dairy Queen or Scotty's Drive In. Speed Week CHRR Firebird Raceway, the Idaho one. Boise Roadster Show parking lot. Numerous rod runs thru the summer. A couple swap meets. Buddy's garages, shops and barns. Some wrecking yards. Drives thru old backroads checking the back 40's. Alleys in the poorer parts of town. Especially the unpaved ones.
I just caught their "best of" episode while on my Honeymoon. That appears to be an absolutely great show. It almost makes me wish I had cable. Almost. The History Channel stuff looks good, but that's about it. Not into 1-800-makemecool shows.
