Hey I'm building an intake for my 394 olds for 6x2 barrle carbs and was wondering which carbs would work best. The engine has 10.5 comp an agressive cam .570 lift and will be in a model a sedan. 97s or 94 or what? Just need a nudge one way or the other.
    Thanks,
    Jason

97's are popular because they look good on a period hot rod, but 94's are cheaper and generally don't leak as much.

The CFM of the 94 family varies from 150 to 190 for ones used on Ford vehicles. The larger venturies will give a slight power increase in even a stock or mildly modified engine.

just remember, the 97 and 94 like vaccuum (is that motor going to produce it with that cam) to run good on the streets. keep the fuel pressure below 3 lbs and you should have trouble free driving.

    I am running 6 97's on my A sedan.

    94's are cheaper

I'd go with six 97's for maximum flash. Depending on your altitude, I'd jet the two center carbs .045 with #65 powervalves and the end four carbs at .043 mains and, as a good starting point, #69 powervalves. Use progressive linkage set up so the four end carbs come to the party at about 60% throttle. I just happen to have carbs, both New and rebuilt. I guarantee no leaks unless you want them for authenticity. . . Good luck!
