I thought I would start a thread about ch***is's and what you are using and how good does it fit, also is your COE going to be a PU style or a flatbed or a car hauler? or what ever

I have 2 of mine going on mid 70's 1 ton GM duelly ch***is.
my chopped and sectioned one and the 35 COE are on them and both will be car haulers.

right now radical, radical is setting on a mid 80's toyota ch***is, I have plans to airbag it so the torsion bars will probably go away

Now if you guys want to see a GREAT fit for a COE check out the chevy astro van, if you plan to build a PU style COE.
these frontends unbolt like a Nova unit, it a subframe and can be graphed to any frame back, they have 13" rotors and 1" sway bar and best of all the steering box is mounted facing straight up, so its like it is made for a COE.
we have one under my sons 46 chevy project COE,(I'll try to get some pics this week) it was under my chopped, sectioned one for awhile.
I picked the frontend up at a 1/2 price day at pick a part for $100.00 even at full price its worth it at $200.00

I am building my 46 COE PU on a dodge dakota ch***is and that ch***is looks like it will work out great for a PU style COE as well.

so what do you guys have???? Ron....

If the group is going to stay alive, a little participation is going to be needed... feel free to start a topic that is important to you. At the same time if your COE isnt the center of your universe I guess we will have to understand. LOL Jump in whenever you can.

I'm aimed at running a late model E-450 underpining. our local public transportation has gotten away from the big busses and is running the airport-shuttle type busses instead. figure I can fetch one of these at city/state auction. this is, of course, at this point planning. don't have a coe YET.

I plan on using a 1973 Chevy dually shortbed frame with 40's style bed. If anyone has put one on this type of frame I would like to get some pointers if possible. Thanks

Mounting my 47 on a 1989 1 ton dually ch***is. Mounted my last COE on a 1983 ch***is and worked out fine. Plan on putting the motor just behind the cab under the bed. Gathering parts while I finish my 55 Chevy project. Motor, trans, dropped spindles and van steering box are sitting the the garage for the start of the project this fall.

I first got the 50 GMC COE Cab and parts without a frame, I always wanted one and was just going to wait to begin construction because of other projects and money. My intent was to build a ramp truck with some sort of sleeper or camper/sleeper. I then came into a deal on a ramp truck based on a 76 Chev 1 Ton Crew Cab. I havent really done any measuring yet but in order to accomodate the camper portion I will have to extend the ch***is. Anybody got a preffered method? Cant post pics for about a month....

My 1938 GMC is on stock frame rails that have been streched by 32". Up front it has an early 80's one ton Chevy van front suspension with Air Bags. Out back it has a one ton dually Chevy rear end. For the engine & ****** it has a late 70's 350 Chevy V-8, turbo 400 ****** and a Gear vendor overdrive. It has a 15’ flat bed that lifts up hydraulically and a set of long ramps to get cars in the bed. Here are a few pics:

Hi Metaltwister, No, I bought it from a guy in Escondido about five or six years ago. That's probably when you saw it. I live in Fremont in the San Francisco Bay Area. I changed the truck a little since then; I wanted it to look more like a little "Big Rig" than a "street rod". First I changed the front spindles so I can put dually wheels up front, then I got rid of the Billet/Mag wheels and put on a set of chrome steel dually wheels on it. I changed the headlights, all of the running lights and tail lights, added the stacks and sun visor.

Where does the time go? Now that you mention it it was about 5 years ago or so. Love all the changes you've made. Nice rig Still... Thanks M.T.

  23. At the moment I am building my 41 Ford COe with a modified POriginal Ch***is which has been Z'ed just behind the C30 Front Suspension, now do to a possible change in what we can and can't do over here in Australia, I am thinking of changing to a C30 Ch***is, which has the same looking kickup behind the Front Suspension, on my Original modified Ford Ch***is my Cab sits nice and low,for photo of how it low it is now, go to to this link http://www.ozcoetrucks.net16.net/My.COE.174.html So will I get the same degree of lowness with a C30 Ch***is or do I have to modify the back of the Cab to fit over the C30 Rails which i have seen done but don't really want to do to my Cab
I have heard that there are different kick ups or step downs on different models of C30 Ch***is is this true or are they all the same.

    Thanks in advance

Hi everybody, I have a 39 GMC COE, and I was planning on putting it on a p30 motor home ch***is that I have but I am running into a problem with the steering box, it sits at the perfect angle almost straight up and down, but it it is to far forward on the frame to mount the cab-to make it work I would need to move the box back almost the lenght of the drag link. Has any one else ran into this problem? Any suggestions
    Thanks
