Dark something for sure. I keep eyeballing a dark blue on late model GM trucks that comes pretty close to Washington blue that I like more every time I see it. I'd say any solid color that didn't give it the " oh yea, that guy must have painted it in 08/09 when that color was on everything", in five years. I thought I had found the hot lick color for my daily driver 71 GMC and now every time I open a truck rag there are two or three close to the same color in the features or show coverage.
Brewster Green from the original paint chart for 1932 is a good color. Washington Blue is another old style winner from Ford's 1932 palette.
I'm painting my coupe BR green. I love the color and don't plan on selling it. As for the color to paint his car; if everyone is telling me to paint it black, that's the last color on the list of choices for me. If I pull into a show and there are 9 other '32 coupes, I don't wanna be one of the eight black ones.
Black isn't too attention grabbing. White ****s. The tan car with black fenders was kind of cute. Sherwin-Williams Acry-Glo makes a nice Cranberry Red. Designed to flex a bit, but not as much as the stuff they put on flexible bumpers. More like carbon-fiber jet fuselage, or GRP bodies. http://www.sherwinwilliams.com/aerospace/acryglo.asp
Fortunatly I have quite a few weeks to decide which "color of the week" I'll actually use on my 3w. Having painted my roadster black I know my 3w won't be black and neither will any other car I ever own.
Just about anything non metallic and dark like what some of these folks have been saying. I like the idea of using factory colors too. A really dark blue with light tan spokes would look cl***y.
Now that's what I was talking about. The only thing i'd do is put tan colored wires on it... althought those wheels are great. Beautiful car.
I'm pretty partial to black, but i think Washington blue is killer also. Dark greens and ***ian Red or maroon also work for me. Someone suggested Salmon - I ended up with this Model A because my buddy who I was helping build it decided to go Salmon (Hey it was the early 90's) and the painter suggested adding some Blue Pearl. Well it pretty much ended up pink. He hated it so much he could finish it (couldn't Even stand to look at it) and i got it for .10 cents on the dollar! Thought I'd give it to my wife. She said it's too pink, so we offed it! Everyone said why not just repaint it? Well to do a Model A right requires taking it all apart again, especially since you can see the color underneath, and i couldn't bring myself to primering over a $17,000 paint job!
I'll give ya THREE choices.. BLACK, or a dark shade of BLACK, or you could always go with BLACK. J Shaw
