I'm going to put a dropped axel and reversed eye spring under the 39 to give her a little bit of hot rod stance. I've also bought some taller rear white walls for the rear . What are some opinions on the wheel color? The wheels are painted silver now. Thanks for your suggestions.

I like the silver as well, maybe you should think along the lines of painting the black part of those hubcaps.

I wouldn't change them, but if you do, gloss black would look really nice also.

I think tan would look very good, but its all in the eye of the beholder.

  6. Taylor, I think the wheels look great just the way they are. What ever you do, DONT paint them RED !!!Ever since 1980, my cars have been red and black and black and red, The latest , a 36 ford is black with red grille and wheels which I believe looks great. Although it seems that just about every black car has red wheels on it. I was thinking of changing my grille to black and the wheels to either black or apple green , just so it doesnt look like every other black car. So , like I said , it looks just fine as is . I also like them as they are- great car.

  8. Cream color or light blue.

  9. NOT RED!.... but I like different.

It'd be hard to improve on what you have now. Looks sweet but maybe I'm kinda with pasadenahotrod on painting the dark part of the caps. Maybe paint them silver like the wheels?

I say either leave them the color they are, paint them cream, or a light green like this.

    what color is the interior?

These are just suggestions. I should probably drive up to dallas and drive it before making any proper decisions. :)

I like it as is. If it has to be changed, I vote for silver, gray, black, or tan to match the interior once its changed.

By the way, very nice car.

I like the silver, black would be cool too. Or a bright color, like red or maybe green.

Silver or black. The car is so clean it would be easy to mess it up. My brother's first car was a '39 standard he got for $50. Mine was a '38 deluxe he bought for me for $15!

Gonna keep the black part on the stock hubcaps? Paint the rims black too.

I had planned on painting the black part on the hubcaps to match what ever color I decide to go with.

  23. There's no denying it, ya' can't go wrong painting them a nice apple green. Very traditional and still not resale red!

The silver looks good otherwise if it were mine and I wanted a change I'd try butternut yellow or a very light gray. You can always go back.

If you HAVE to paint em, go with black. If you want some color on em, throw a pinstripe or two on em. That apple green or a tan would look good, in my opinion.

And if you want to paint em bright red.. go for it if thats what you want to do.

    I've got a black '39 Standard also.
I'm gettiing new steelies this sprirng and have been thinking about colors also.
I'm leaning towards either black or tan. The black is a little obvious but looks good- I think the tan would be a bit more unexpected but give it a little less of the 'restored' stocker look than the black.
