Anything except red or yellow! I'm partial to dark greens and browns with a fine flake in it myself. That's just me though... good luck!
Hey I like read. I'm not sure what it looks like but I like it. I'm painting my next ride Metalic Gold and Black. Copper and Black also look good together both were used in the '50s. It won't matter if you used Gold and Black we have different kind of cars.
I was leaning toward gold or a green. The post '' lets see your favorite model a's'' got alot of good colors posted there.
The early 50's Chev emerald green is nice as far as greens go. I'd be looking at 50's paint color books and see was the hot lick at the time. Black rods are like belly****ons, they are everywhere and disappear into the background quite readily most of the time. I like the red the truck is now but I can understand wanting a change. The last time we picked a color for the 48 we drove past car lots in the day time and at night to pick a color that not only looked great out in the sun but looked great under the lights at night. I wasn't looking for a traditional color then though. I keep seeing a lot of newer VW's with colors that would look right on older rigs especially some of the blues.
I remember having the same delema. Cars in the booth, changed my mind about the color i was going to use in last minute and remembered what old Henry said........ nuf said
Ask yourself what kind of look you want to end up with. Something with a "**** you" at***ude, or "hey, look at me" kind of look, a truck just in town to sell the eggs, or sort of formal, like you'd take to the prom. The answer will help guide you along. Bill
Not going to paint it black, to hard to keep it clean. The color on the truck is just a primer.I powder coated everything for easy cleaning, wheels,ch***is.
Black is what I came up with immediatley, you don't wnat black, so I'd go something dark in just about any color, red, green, grey, blue. I'dstay away from bright colors unless you're trying to win awards in the indoor show arena. Maybe even a subtle champagne. Devin
I second the Ford Maroon, but howabout a hand-rubbed quality to the color with a gloss finish? I have a pair of docs that immediately came to mind when I saw the truck: Started working on a photoshop of it with that look, but not sure how much I can get done on it this week. My first p*** at it made it look like lacquered rust and not happy with it. Figured I'd at least throw the color idea out there in the meantime.
Okay, so it's out in left-field a bit as far as a paintjob is concerned. I have NO idea if it's even possible. But was fun to play with. Maybe if someone else is feeling frisky they could add some light pinstriping on the cab, or a logo on the door? Might go nice with it.
Seems like a lot are leaning towards a dark red of some type. The color on the truck is a base they call for a Chilli Pepper Pearl. Didn't go through with that color, found out a friend was planning on the same color.
if you decide to go red, take a look at "cl***ic red", it's a mazda color and looks great, I think. Another option would be Chinese red, sometimes called "roso chino" or ferrari red.
Rootbeer brown with a microflake in it...Goes with the black interior, and with the cream wheels oddly enough.
I think a lite blue with black fenders(I love black fenders on cars and trucks around thows years) Just my 2 cents
Ok, I think I have found a color or two.I need someone to help with a photo shop though. A gold with scalopps or a green. Let me know if you may be intersested and we can go over my ideas.Sorry for the bad spelling.
YANK...i think a dark green small metalflake would be outstanding! black has been WAY over done, in my view. but both of those are very hard to see at night. that's why i painted my car white. and truthfully i dig white on rods...POP.
